Bus Bonanza 2024 - March 15-24th

Nice attitude from one of the presenters, huh?

No explanation of what to expect, tool availability or anything relevant to the event, just a "f-your questions and f-you for having any."

I'm a shameless checkbook builder and your guy Ryan would rather fleamarket junk on FB marketplace than answer a few questions to get a consulting gig.

Nice business model, stupid.
-------------------------

Well worth repeating, as neither the Promoter nor Presenter will address questions to their own claims. Please. Present to us. Promote your event. You have offered to answer questions. The questions asked, are legit.

SeekingDiscovery, Brokedown:

Tell what you have done to inflate the value for this event, verses a normal visit to Hummingbird Tiny Home Rental?

Did you invite or hire:
Music performances, entertainers?
Food vendors, beer/wine sales or tasting?
RV product exibitions or vendors?
A/V LED Installers, wire distributors?
Mobile carpenters, welders, upholsters?
Kids arts/crafts, facepainting?
Hay rides, playground, corn maze?
Pony rides, petting zoo?
Rockwall, Inflatables, waterslide?
Games, competitions, prizes, raffle?
Fire apparatuses, Security, Life-safety Personnel?
Event permits, Bonding, Liability insurance?

You've invited RVers into the sticks with no RV hookups. We like convinces. I've already lived the chow-hall life, serving in the USAF. The asking price of $1350/month ought to rent a high bay in a fully equipped warehouse, large enough to park a bus (Christopher?) For $45 per day I want to know the value which you are offering. "Just gotta pay up and see", does not work for me. Transparency, please.

Brokedown has already deleted his last post, an emotionally charged rebuttal. Your dodgery and attempt to silence relevant questions, is a red 🚩flag, in and of itself. Why must the relevant truth be avoided?

Please don't offer more personal attacks instead of resonable answers. The situatuon is already becoming apparent. (We have children & grandkids experience.)

Clearly, no due diligence made for our familys' welfare nor even address our safety concerns, yet they likely have a fully prepared shopping/wish list. The money they collect from us is practically spent, already.

I just don't see the value in responding to bad faith actors. Plenty of resources out there from people who actually attended last year's event.

Sometimes I fall victim to a troll but after a moment of reflection I changed my mind. If I needed unhinged negativity in my life I'd get back in touch with my ex-wife.

But good luck in your current and future projects!

PS - I'm not affiliated with the event in case that wasn't obvious.

I think Demac has valid questions and is being professional about it, and that's coming from me which if anyone knew our histories would know, we often clash on topics.

Another 'trust me bro' source?

So attendees are supposed to guess what goes on there or stalk last year's unknown attendees to try to figure it out?

These are all valid questions and constructive criticism from potential customers and so far has been handled very poorly by the event people.

Hey Brokedown, you were at last year's event.
-Did you rent/borrow tools?
-What'd ya "get done"?
-Please tell us more about "the main draw".

--------------------------

I did not rent or borrow tools, I carry basically all the tools to build and maintain a bus on my bus.

My bus didn't need any work to "get done", but I did spend much of the time helping others with projects on their buses.

The draw for me personally was spending time with old friends and making new ones, learning some things I didn't know and teaching some things I do know. if you've been to just about any event before you already get this.

I did do a fun talk on the topic of how unreliable internet commenters are when it comes to bus topics, which I'm doing an updated version of this year. There were talks and hands-on workshops every day and I attended most of them.

🫡Don't hold back Charlie, tell us how ya really feel.

SeekingDiscovery,
I notice that you are quick to recite "the going rate". That's also known as pricing the customer, instead of the product or service.

I attended the 2019_Skoolie_Swarm at the Florida_Sand_Music_Ranch, formerly the Sertoma Youth Ranch. We only paid $25 and our private campsite had power, water, fire ring, picnic table, BBQ grill, refuse collection....

attachment.php

The Ranch's 2024 rates for electrified
sites have increased only five bucks since, (now $30) yet they offer a lot more value in exchange for our dollars.

Restrooms with hot showers (*Handicapped accessible)
Over 200 campsites with water and electric hookups ($30 per night)
Primitive Sites $15 per night)

Fire Rings throughout many campsites.
70+ picnic tables
RV dump station
Playground
Large grass field for sports activities
Hundred of acres of wooded paths
Spring fed creek

This venue has live performances and attractions inside their 7500sf pavillion with stage: The Celtic Jamboree, Blues Bash, Spring Bluegrass, Americana Music, Sunshine Get-Down, Rock-n-Roll Revival.

There's is a lot of value in a tent, for $15, but we are RVers. We prefer keep our perishables refrigerated, cook our own meals and sleeping under HVAC

$45!? Why the concert ticket prices to rough-it on a 10 acre farm? There are no proper camp sites. No available RV hookups. No waterways for swimming, fishing, canoeing. No trails for hiking, biking, atvs.

Agrotourism is not recreational lodging. The chosen venue is a pasture, the cheapest land in the country. To me, it seems like profiteering by inexperienced promoters who have not invested in the proper infrastructure, permits, zoning, licensing, bonding, insurance, fire safety apparatuses nor event security.

(See Skooliepallooza permitting fiasco)

Folks with opinions are like a$$holes. I'm known to be both.

I've been wanting to have another FREE get-together just to show it can be done.

I have 30 acres, I'm clearing. 100% wooded default. I plan to clear some yardage to have some free events. And a bus parking lot with camp sites is one location I want to make. I would just require a waiver be signed to not be sued for any injuries that may occur as a result of anything someone does in the woods to hurt themselves. I'll have free wood people can use for their fires, Some potable drinking water (Likely not enough to fill up tanks and good company, unless you don't mind unfiltered river water.) but enough to have water for people who didn't fill their tanks prior.

It may be a year though until I'm at this point where we can have an event, but that's the plan, and we'll have a stop for people in South Carolina, Near Charlotte, NC.

That's the spirit! Very cool :thumb:

Ahhh that's probably the end goal. Sell the "dream". I wonder what similar properties in the area are selling for. Down here in FL where property is at absolute insane prices I don't see a rural 10 acre lot going for near 2 million. I just looked at one 2 years ago. Ag zoned, rv lots in place, and water/electricity. Still for sale last I looked and its like $180k. On a nice paved road with a publix 15 minutes away.

Insane indeed!

Those must be prices for North Florida c'cause down here in Miami Dade a 10 acre rural in the Redlands will easily fetch 2 mil !

Free Skoolie Gathering?

I've been wanting to have another FREE get-together just to show it can be done.

I'm open to suggestions.

Free works for me. We can plan something at my house. We own (no mortgage) 20 contiguous acres. 16 of which is A-1 zoned. 10 acres of pasture, 6 acres of wooded. Plus 3 acres R-1 residential and another 1 acre M-1 Retail/Light Industrial. We have RV hookups too.

Our property is comprised of five separate dockets but they are joined contiguous. Having A-1, R-1 & M-1 zoning grants us the right to perform a variety of permitted functions from one parcel of land.

All of our current renters are either horses or donkeys, though we've had numerous skoolies stay here previously. We could schedule something for the month of October, if Skooloe.net folks want to put something together, here.

We are actually on the same road as the entry to Doe Lake Campground, a Skoolie Swarm gathering spot. Some swarm attendees stayed here, instead.

Our friends Brown & Brown Farms, just down the street, holds a large Fall Festival & Mega Maze each year. Good family fun, comprised of both adult & child activities. Multiple rides, wine tasting & sales, petting zoo, equestrian exibitions, food and entertainment. It might be worthwhile for us to coincide with another event, such as this.

We are within a few miles of grocery stores Publix, Aldi & Winn-Dixie. RV & bus converters will appreciate that Camping World & The RV Supercenter are only 6 miles away. The local Walmart, Lowe's & Home Depot are 6 to 8 miles away. The Dollar Tree, Fueling station & Headshop are only 1 mile from us. We are easily accessable, via a 55 mile per hour county road to two of our driveways. Our corner lot has a third driveway on the 45MPH side road. We are NOT in the boonies. There are hundreds of places to dine, golf and shop as we are located adjacent to The Villages of Florida, the nation's fastest growing retirement community.

🤷I'm open to suggestions.
