I need to move my bus from where it is but with trying to convert it and all I got rid of the seat. Can't drive standing up... or could I? Wish I wouldn't have trashed it but was planning to replace it and didn't think twice

What could I do??

here is an idea

Kinda depends on how far you need to move it, and what type roads you would be on. No way would I try to drive anywhere just standing up. Even the 5 gallon bucket would be better for across the yard/field. If I were in the country driving on seldom traveled roads (dirt roads) and were going less than a mile, I probably would go for a sturdy folding type chair that I could secure such that it wouldn't slide around with me. Any situation other than that, I'd look for a van - type captain's chair and bolt it in properly. Think insurance claim.

I was actually kidding about the standing and driving. Besides, it's a 30 minute drive

What is your long-term plan for driver's seat for your build? Might consider increasing the priority for that item - otherwise, Craigslist for a van seat.

Go to a salvage yard and pick up a cheap seat!

Anyone know of a salvage yard that might sell school bus parts in the Houston area. Out of all the places I've called so far only one had seats but were new and costs $500!

Are the seats in those 18 wheelers the same as school bus seats?

I have to have it moved by Wednesday and also have to go to a funeral on that same day

If it were me and I just need to make a quick 30 minute drive to a final resting place? I'd look into getting a van seat or a seat from a Suburban/Denali/Tahoe (preferably with integrated seat belt). There are plenty of them on Craigslist or at an auto salvage yard.

Then I'd build a temporary platform out of 2x4s to raise it to a comfortable height. Later on, you can get a proper platform that bolts on, swivels, etc.

Should be enough to get you on the road though. Just don't hit anything :whistling:

These seats mentioned, van/truck seats and such, are universal im assuming? Still trying to find a seat

I once had a conversion van, and it had captain's chairs on swivel pedestals that just bolted to the floor through a square base plate (maybe 8" square or so). Didn't use factory seat bolts at all, these conversion seats were definitely "universal". I'd try to find a you-pull-it junk yard and check all the conversion vans out. Four bolts and you're done.
