Bus mirrors...

I had purchased a set of west coast style mirrors for my bus. They sat in my living room for about a month waiting for me to get primer on the bus so that I could remoung the mirror brackets. Now that I have the mirror hoops mounted, I found that the 6"x16" mirrors are way to small for my liking. They seem too narrow and I am having a hard time figuring out how to mount them so that I can adjust them up/down instead of just side/side. How do you mount a mirror with a top and bottom post to a 1" diameter mirror hoop bracket? Post some pics of your mirrors so I can see what I need to do. Also, if you have pictures of other styles of mirrors that you are using, post them too so I can get some ideas for my bus. I am having a **** of a time with this and it should be such an easy thing to do.

Don't know if this will help, but these are pics of my mirrors and I have the West Coast kind. These are original equipment placed on most Crowns from the 50's to end of production. I have the slim ones like you mentioned, but what I really like are the 8 inch convexes to help with sight. The flat mirror on the driver side has only a 4 inch convex glued to the flat, but it works fine for me. I use the convex to determine things that are there, and the flat mirrors to judge the depth perception. Using them together works well, especially after you use them awhile and get used to each of the differences. Like all vehicles though, no mirror set is going to eliminate all the blind spots.

i have spent a few hours on my mirrors..... adding more on my passenger side so i can see the whole side

i totally rebuilt the walleye lenses interior and put a piece of leather in the ball portion because it had worn out

This is what I ended up with for mirrors. I still need to paint the mirror brackets with the same trim paint that I did on the window frames and the front grill. Other than that, these mirrors are heated and have lights. They sure work good too. Here's the pics...

I got the west coast style mirrors from Princess Auto. It is a Canadian company that I have gotten many parts, tools, and accessories from. I think the mirrors are Chinese made so there are probably other companies that offer the same mirror with their name on it. If all else fails, Grote makes a similar mirror and most truck shops can get Grote products.
