Where in Houston area can i rid of my bus seats? I called a few junk hauling places but they weren't cheap so i figured I'd do it myself. How'd you guys go about it?

Put 'em up on craigslist- somebody will want them. Free!!!

I have pulled the seats out of two buses this year. I tried to give the seats away on CL.

Lots of flakes..... After 15-20 no-shows I hauled them to the scrap yard. They helped me unload them and didn't charge me.

seats

we took them apart - the foam seats and board backs went to the dump - $4.50. Then we took the 800 lbs of steel to the recycle yard, + $50. Put the leg of one of the seats through the lights on the trailer , -$25. Enough left over for dinner at Jimmy Johns for 2.

Then we took the 800 lbs of steel to the recycle yard,

Wow. Maybe weld all them seat frames into some cool yard art.

This how to solder copper tubing. I'm not sure what it has to do with your seats, but I found it educational.

 funny

I have 16 left to pull on mine. You might get online and offer on a church site. Most school systems have plenty on their deadlines. I'm taking these to the dump.

Did 800 lbs of steel come from the seats alone? Or is that with the inside walls? How much per pound did they pay?

For the legs i can get 4 cents a pound. Dont know if thats good or not. Called a few landfill places and one said they charge a flat rate of 50+ bucks for the foam part. Jimmy john mentioned -$4.50. Any suggestions? Im in pearland Texas by the way.

steel alone. I did have some interest from a couple of hunters to put a seat or two in their deer stands, but none got back to me as to how they wanted them delivered and I needed to get them off of the trailer. They were cool with that.

Pearland is 3 1/2 hours away from Lipsitz recycling, where I took my steel. Probably not worth the drive to get the $50 or so.

WOW!! Fantastic video resource Rusty - THANK YOU!!!

Back to the seats. If you are interested in some change, hauling them to a recycling yard is the answer - probably after removing all the non-metal (may depend on the yard). In my case, I wanted them gone ASAP so I could get busy. I advertised on Craigslist and thru in a $50 bill. Someone was there the same day to haul them (and the cash) away.

I took mine to the local recycle yard and they took them for free and helped me unload.

That was the best I could manage.

the seats I did remove from my carpenter bs, I just set them out by my street the night before trash day.. and the guy in an old rusty pickup trucked picked them up.. every seat I put out there by the curb was gone that night..

Scrappers came for our seats as soon as we pulled them. Didn't even have to haul em to the curb.
