There are services like that but they won't be cheap. They're called Driveaway services if you want to Google it. You can do as you're doing and each out to this community as I know several of us are qualified to drive the bus 'as-is' without a lot of hassle over license endorsements and such but you're still going to spend quite a bit for their time and fuel for such a long trip. Also you'll still need to provide proof of insurance for the proxy driver.

Be careful buying from NJ.

OP contacted me and said the bus is in IL, not NJ. Rust is a concern there as well, however. Appears it may be a MaxxForce DT, which I have voiced my own concerns about, informed them that if it is a DT466E, that is the better engine to have, but likely a MaxxFarce.

Maxxforce DT started in 2007 / 08. . the official release of the engine was 07.. but some 07s still got DT466E (no DPF filter).. if its anything newer then its defintely the Maxxforce.

It can be transported

I had my bus flat bedded from Arkansas to Kansas City. Was about 300 miles. Bus is/was a 30’ flat front. Cost me right near 2k to have it transported. Not cheap, but I got what I think was a good deal. Despite what others will tell you to purchase, or not purchase just do your research, here and other places, then you have to think for yourself. There are a lot of ways to skin a cat.

I paid a flat fee and fuel. I did accommodate the drive and the drive back. If your not going to the location think hiring a CDL driver and pay the minimum milage charge you can find and insure they are insured and have transport tags.

I'm curious why a CDL would be needed to drive a private bus. It is not required even for the ginormous Prevost motorhomes... ??

Oh, never mind. I think I figured it out. It's the same as flying for hire -- if you are getting paid to do it you need a commercial license.
