Look in the GVWR topic in the "Everything Else" forum for some additional weight listings for various busses.

My Bus Weight

An SC driver's license allows you to drive any combination of rig up to 26,000#. In looking around at buses to buy, I noticed that larger ones (66+ passenger) are generally over 26,000# GWVR, so I got a 60 passenger bus (plus it's the biggest the NC bus system uses, and that's where I got my bus.)

The guy at the NC bus depot told me it was under 26,000# GWVR, so I went down to Bolivia, NC, and bought the bus. Only after he handed me the old title did I notice that it said 27,000# GVWR. Yikes! I looked at the manufacturer's plate over the driver's seat, and it said 24,500# GWVR. Whew. When I had the bus titled, I put down 24,500# GWVR on the title application. Nobody asked any questions. I left the "empty weight" space blank on the application, and they asked me what the empty weight was. I said 18,000#. I have no idea, but I figured it was designed to carry sixty 100 pound munchkins, so 24,500# - 6,000# = about 18,000#. Close enough for me. One day I'll put it on a scale.

The good thing about having the 18,000# empty weight is that I can tow my 3,500 pound Jeep Wrangler without going over the 26,000# limit that my driver's license allows. Whew, again!

The moral (if there is any) is that IMHO it's important to double check that your bus (plus toad) is not bigger than your state's driver's license will allow you to operate.
