Hello everyone,

We have finally joined the skoolie community. We have purchased our first bus a 2001 GMC 54 passenger Bluebird. It is equipped with a 3126 CAT and an 5 speed manual transmission. Solid wheels, 4 wheel disc brakes and is exactly what we wanted.

We have been searching high and low for the right bus and finally it found us. We are in our early 40's and have been wanting to escape the responsibilities of the real world for a long time. We are both avid outdoorsy people. We each have our own 4x4 and have explored not enough places and yet thousands more than the average person.

I am currently a full time technician that has spent years working in the medium duty ie school bus industry.

We have started an Instagram page @busbusforus and look forward to meeting fellow skoolies on the road

Welcome. I'm new myself and have been participating on these boards for 2 weeks now, but still have yet to make my own "I'm New" thread. I'll probably do that today. lol


I've read probably 40% of all the posts on here already. Lots of good information, but some of it is well hidden, so you have to just start reading posts to find that hidden gem that applies to you and your bus.


It's always good to show us pics of your bus as we all like to see what people do to them, even if not much has been done yet, we all like to see pre-conversion pics as well to help visualize the transformation or what it could be or will be.


If you have any bus related questions, feel free to ask in the drive train and mechanical section for your Bus model/brand.
