Buying Land to Store Bus

first get the power pole installed.
for that you will need a building permit.
the power company will not connect it until the city or county says okay.
which is after a certificate of occupancy (upon final inspection) is issued.
but they won't let you live on-site in an RV.
maybe a manufactured home with a minimum floor space requirement.
and you have to show proof of having bought one that meets the current code minimums.
and that septic will never get approved.
blah, blah, blah.
That's the big one. Trying to get the power set up before buying the "mobile home".

Maybe I can get power set up for the 5000+ square feet home I will build in the near future...
I'm sure there will be some fees, etc.

Other than the electrical post, everything else would be without permits/codes.

let the Real estate agent be your friend... chances are when you find the land you want to buy there will some type of real estate agent involved.. and at that time you can see if anyone has done a study on the land for a well / septic (there are rules for septic being too close to natural springs, lakes, creeks, etc in some areas...).. Utility power would also be something ask an agent about...

or if you are getting that far and are planning on having a house built, or even just the shell of a house, you will at some point want a GC , they can advise on what it takes to get power and well / septic..

but the Real estate agent (either one you have to find the land, or the one listing the land). will usually have access to some of the info you want.. as those are common questions that get asked when land is purchased..

a really lucky scenerio would be findiong a plot of land with an already working well on it in a place you could deal with... ie with a mobile home there that you could move or live in while constructing your house..

I dont know your exact plans to know if you are going to build the home yourself, or have a shell built and do the interior yourself, or just have the whole thing built..

typically the cost of getting the final power feed in isnt that much more than getting a smaller temporary... permitting and such is something ask a GC.. as it various by county , city, and township greatly..

Hey Christopher, I should had quoted the "5000 home". Meaning, that's not my intent.
I'll probably buy a piece of land to play with, while staying low profile.

If you google: off grid living/ tiny home, you find people doing some of these projects " under the radar".

I wasnt sure about the house part.. I think you can easily get away with the well and septic yourself if you are low enough to grab the aquifer.. electricity you can get away without altogether if you put up enough solar / wind and storage...

if florida is anything like ohio... stay far away enough from the cities and towns.. then no one cares what you do on your property...

In most rural county areas yeah, you can do whatever you want.

has to be zoned rural from the get go, or no full time living in any kind of RV without the stipulation of having to start building a house within a year. I've talked to Realesatate agents in Florida. Its my plan too.
