California School Bus

Good Morning,
I purchased a 2002 Thomas 40ft school bus in a California auction a few days ago and am getting conflicting info on how to initially register it. The title is pictured here. My goal is to convert it into an RV and plate it in CA or a nearby state. Is there any advice before I go to dmv and transfer title and register it in my name? Any help greatly appreciated!

My feeling would be to avoid California all together, but that's just me. If you can swing registering it there though I guess it'll be fine.
