Can anyone help me raise my roof?

I'm a very solitary dude. I don't really have any friends who who I could get to help me, and also I've never welded anything before and while I will be learning so I can do some work on this project, I don't think I'll trust myself to make structural welds for the roof raise.

I'm in North MS. Would anyone be interested in coming to do a roof raise with me? Alternatively I could drive it to wherever you are if you aren't too far away. I own a small business so I can take off whenever I want. Would ideally like to just go at it nonstop for a few days and get it done. You would obviously be paid!

How high you wanna go?
I did my roof raise a few years ago and it went real well. I'm in FL though. What kinda bus is it? Thomas is harder to make it look good due to the angle of the sides above the top rub rail.

Ah yes I should probably add some details.

It's a 25' Blue Bird TC1000. I'm 5'11" and the center height is 6'4", so with 2" of insulation plus flooring and ceiling, I'd probably be scraping the top. I don't need a super tall raise. Probably about 12" so I have about a foot of headroom after insulating.

THe lower you keep it the easier it will be to make it look good. I'd consider raising it somewhere betweeen 8-12".
Are you looking to delete the little louvers over the windows or leave them?

I'm not sure. I'll have to look at some other conversions and see how I feel about them. I definitely want to skin over the windows and put some RV windows in.

Skinning over the windows is the way to go.

The roof we just raised was planned at 18" but measuring from rivet to rivet it's actually 19".

Measuring from the ground to the top curve of the roof we now have just under a total of 11' 6" height on the bus. Does not factor in a roof top a/c but we anticipate that to be less than 12" for a hopeful maximum height just under 12' 6".

Here are some pics so you can have an idea on what 19" inches looks like.

As you can see it is slightly taller than the travel trailer next to it but much lower than the air damn on the tractor which is at 13' 6" in height.

The two bus picture - the one in the forefront is at stock height with the air bags deflated.

At the end of the day I would advise to try to stay under 12' 6". Out in the open road this height is no problem but once you get into populated towns and cities with low bridges.... you might find yourself with some navigational challenges.

A trucker GPS is most helpful as they have software built in that can warn you of known low clearance areas. Typical consumer (car) GPS unit do not have these functions, most of the ones I come across that is.
