Can I put an apartment sized upright piano in a schoolie?

Hello!

I'm a musician thinking about converting a bus into a tiny home and travelling the country while busking. I'm mainly a pianist, and I have a beautiful piano in my apartment that I'm just in love with. I'd say its 300-400 pounds.

Would a schoolie be able to hold the weight? I was hoping I could get a shuttle bus or a wheelchair shuttle. I like that they're close to the ground.

Here's another question!

Where I'd be busking out of my bus, could it be possible to put the piano on rails and roll it out the back door?

Weight Wise, I wouldn't worry about the weight in a regular bus.

If you are looking at a cutaway I would be cautious. They don't have the weight capacity that y get in a bus built on a medium duty chassis.

Getting it into the bus would concern me. How big is it?

I think the de-tuning issue o1marc mentioned kind of kills this (not many acts these days tour with real pianos), but it's fun to think about what you could do with this. I wonder if you could remove the wooden case and attach the metal frame (plus the keyboard and pedals) directly to the walls. It would take up relatively little space this way and save some weight. It would sound ... interesting at least. You'd basically be using the bus body itself as the sounding board. I don't think the strings would be within an octave of their correct pitch after a drive.

You could build a new back wall/door for the bus with the piano mounted on it, and make it so the wall pivots around a center pillar, leaving the piano on the outside for busking.

Myself, I would get a quality synthesizer.
