Carwash soap drums?

Thanks 01Marc, it was my impression that PNW steves , the OP, search was for square tanks as he had seen in another thread.
I have one of those and posted the manufacturer so that he knows wher he could get them. During that search I just noticed another square tank from northern tool with useful dimensions / specification and just added it for someone else to think about.

Regarding the nut, thank you but it was meant how to get a picture in your signature, it does not seem to allow me to do that.
It always amazes me in how many ways different people read different things in one sentence.

Later J
Again, he saw a previous thread with a modified "square" car wash soap drum. I thought he was looking for a $15-$20 option to modify instead of buying a $150+ tank to do the same job. At least that's how I read it. I have done my fair search for drums in the past few years for storing chemical strippers in, but have never, in my 64 years, seen a rectangular 55Ga. soap container, or any other liquid for that matter.

Click on your name, then go to UserCP, then to Edit Avatar. From there you can add whatever you want.

Edit. I did reread PNW Steve's post and he was referencing the old thread so option manufacturer info, so he wouldn't be looking for a $10-$15 used tank. I think we have provided enough info to get him on the right track though.

Yeah, that one was deceptively shiny and new looking. Not a realistic representation.

I still have not developed the skill of putting images on here. Failed again.

I looked for a rusty wing nut to match the other nut but found only new nuts.
I'll PM you pic info.

I found what looks like a **** wingnuts, a Micky Mouse and Mini Mouse wingnuts. Even Schwartzeneger wingnuts. Saved the images but can't get them attached. In time, but my eyes are just about crossed for today.
Thanks, I am getting closer.

Good though but it would take 8 of them @ $136 each.

Moeller makes tanks in sizes all the way up to 200 gallons. I'm sure they have something that fits the need. When I went to your thread I saw the red tanks first and thought that's what he was referring to. Then I saw the ProShield he was referencing.
8 of the red ones make 96 gallons.

Three that I have researched before for custom tanks.
Plasticmart.com
Miller plastics
Pro tank.
I know if you contact plastic mart they will send you a blank sketch sheet and you sketch what you want with fitting size and location and send it back to them to build exactly what you want.
I used them for some 500-gallon rain water cistern on a harvesting system I built a while back and there prices were comparable to any pre-made tank I could find but with them I got exactly what was needed.
Hope this helps

I used Ronco Plastics to make the tanks for my last bus and they were pretty reasonable. Not so anymore.

The big hitch, as I posted earlier, is the shipping cost. I found tanks that suited me at a fair price but the shipping was twice the cost or the tanks.

If I can find a carwash within 100 miles of me and get 50 gallon square barrels for $15-20 that would be ideal.

Maybe try some farm/ag stores.
The the big ones the smaller hometown stores.
Seems like the smaller tanks that fit on an ATV or gator would work.
My local equipment rental companies like UNITED RENTALS,NEFF,HERC all sell there stuff after so many hours or years of life so maybe they have something.
Haven't tried it yet but I have seen some plastic welding stuff on the market that I have been wanting to play with but I don't deal with plastic enough to warrant the purchase but if you could get some drums or square tanks for cheap you entertain the idea of making your own.
One nation under goat used regular barrels if I remember correctly.

Dooohhhhh!!!

I see those tanks almost daily.... I live in a farming community and never thought of those...

Hey Everyone,

I am trying to track down a source for poly drums to use as water tanks.

I saw a conversion thread showing the use of "square" 55 gallon drums that had been used for carwash soap. I have been hunting for that thread so that I can find out what manufacturer the drums came from. No luck so far.

Anyone have any information on the square soap containers or the thread that showed them?

They looked to be about 22"x22"x36" from what I could guess from the pictures.

Thanks.
