I know of someone whose bus started putting out a cloud of white smoke while travelling through the middle of nowhere. The experts, reached by cellphone, believe this to be an injector issue. Does anyone know the problems with Cat 3116's, and specifically with replacing injectors?

White smoke is an indicator of sucking air into a fuel line/ system, among other things. My V8 3208 did this; the throttle rod seals were bad and letting air into the fuel system. Other symptoms were lack of power, inability to maintain proper idle, surging. Could also be bad rings? Good luck!

It was a bad injector dumping fuel into one of the cylinders, which was found to have a failed exhaust valve in that bore also. Engine is toast, so to speak. Injectors were priced at $300 each ($1800 for 6).
