hi EVERYONE. new to the forums. got a bus ;-). 2002-2003 thomas built safetyliner

from what i know. the injector cups were replaced, old cups in a box so know that happened
also fuel in the reservoir coolant. never got flushed. this is why i think the cup were replaced.
so when the person got it from auction. it would start but had no power.
so now i own it. and trying to sus out this issue.

so, it has a cat 3126e or KAL31252

one thing i noticed was. NO INJECTOR FILES in the ecm... or atlease that is what i think? in Cat ET under calibration/injector trimfiles. it just shows the serial numbers. no file vs or "tallytales"?

fualt code ---- 42-11 Injection Actuation Pressure output fault
im hopeing once i get the trim files. and try to start the bus with them i can run a few test to determine the huei pump is ok. and this code is just temporary.....
if not guess i got to get a huei pump :-(

this will be an ongoing thread for sure.
 
The KAL31252 is a Cat C7 (not a 3126) manufactured in 2004. You can go to CAT and register your engine. :)
thats so confusing haha. it literally says 3126e on the body !!

by the way a nice gentleman got me the trim codes.. weather permitting going to load them up and see if she starts and runs correctly long enough i can do other test via cat et

CHECK YOUR BATTERIES,,, mine were dead-DEAD-dead...... ugh

trim files uploaded no problem. so got to get some AA's to power this cat toy.
 
update
got a c7 acert 2004?.
when you press the accelerator., it just pours black smoke. and hardly speeds up. but seems to idle just fine-no smoke
i did a injector cut out test and i did notice an audible diffrence between three injectors?
also did a commanded pump pressure test. it reached 2500 with little variation. +- 50 actuator percentage was around 37-40%
i assume that is a good sign.
back to the injectors. so when i did the cut out test. cut out one-at-a-time. one,two,and three cause the engine to jerk around and engine speeds up alittle, sounds horrible
injectors four,five,and six. barely change but it is noticeable just not as apparent and audibly as the first three.

so..... does these mean anything.
my other thought was maybe i need to check fuel pressure. grab a gauge. and hook it up and maybe its just the regular on the back of the motor..

any thoughts please let me know
 
so, i did the expensive thing,,,,,,, i got two injectors $389 a pop. not to bad. but the issue still persist..
my next plan of attack is the fuel pressure regulatory on the back of the block.

it would be nice if i had more time, but the poor bus is almost 2 hours away.


the issue is hesitation when you press the pedal. black smoke and heavy knock @ high rpm befor it trys to stall
