There seem to be quite a few hit&run postings in the classifieds - people that register, make one post in the classifieds and vanish without ever responding to any replies. Is there some way of stopping this or deleting a posting in the classifieds automatically after say a month?

Makes you wonder about how much they want to sell whatever it is they are posting.

I dunno. There were a couple of bus projects that I'd have been interested in.

I'm supposed to be buying a bus off a guy in Atlanta but I fear he's not going to fix the oil leak nor replace the bald tires so I've been casting around, looking elsewhere.

If we don't find a converted/partially converted bus "locally" (wherever that may end up) for Das Mel, then we will be heading up to Alto, GA to buy a shell. That's our plan.

We can definitely clean up the Classifieds / Wishlist portion of the forum. I don't necessarily see a problem with someone registering just to post a bus for sale... not everyone who owns a bus is a skoolie or has an interest in the skoolie culture, but they do know enough to think this might be a reasonable place to advertise their bus.

Of course the "Buyer Beware" caveat is always in place no matter what venue houses a purchase. I'll take some time when I get back home tomorrow and see if I can clean up some of the older stuff. If people register solely for the purpose of posting their bus, I can understand why they wouldn't come back and delete their classified post when it sells. They don't have any ties to the site... they don't care. :)

This topic came up years ago and Steve said he didn't have a problem with it. I think it helps with Google rankings and SEO.

I think you should be required to have 5 posts before you are allowed to post a classified. I'm on a couple forums that have that rule implemented.

clean up my act!!!! maybe this is a good place to say i've just spent 30 minutes TRYING to delete my no-longer needed ad and can't find a way to do it! perhaps you'd have less clutter on your forum if this was easier? any help would be appreciated! buymybus / schoolie for sale and thank you for the space......

Per your request the thread has been moved

A simple request to a mod would of fixed your issue, easier than bashing the site
