Counter height decision

Looking at cabinets for the gypsybeast(89 crown). Standard cabinets would Cover part of the window BUT a long dresser would sit right at the window level. Would it be weird to have my kitchen counter top lower than what's standard? I'm pretty short.

All of the counters in our bus are at window height or even lower. I think that comes to 31 inches. Hubby & I had a go around regarding the island we bought at the ReStore, it was 36" high and I had a problem with it being that high even though that is standard.

I have very little upper arm strength and I have to depend on putting my whole body into doing certain things such as kneading & rolling out pizza dough and hand mixing. It was very hard having to raise my arms up so high.

I finally convinced him to lower it by jokingly telling him that if he wants to keep the island at 36" he can but he will be the one to do the cooking, especially frying chicken on our NuWave cooktop because I was not doing it. The cooktop raises the height even more and I didn't like having hot grease that close to my face.

Now that it's done, it has turned out to be the decision after all.

BTW: I think handicap counters are just a little higher than the windows in our bus, so we can just say we wanted everything at handicap level in case we needed it later down the road.

My kitchen counters are at 42 inches tall the bathroom counter is 38 where we wanted them

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks to me like they covered the bottom half of the window. I like the way they framed them in, and put a shelf above.

I'd need standard counter height, because I'm not short, and stooping would cause back pain for me when I have to do a lot of prep.

Many house sized things will cover a portion of your bottom window. Stove, freezer, counter tops and lavatory top. Of course, they get customized to suit yourself.

If you want shorter and pre built cabinets, you may consider bathroom cabinets. The bathroom ones are shorter and also shallower. I think we might use this option as we have purchased an undermount sink at ReStore and are considering using those pre-glued table tops at Lowe's as a counter top. they are only 24" deep. Don't know how long they'll last but we can replace and upgrade when the time comes, less than $50 USD vs. at least $200 for the 'butcher block counter top' at Ikea.

I'll have to look at ikea, I'm. Sure we have one within driving distance. I also might just commission a Carpenter to do the kitchen area for me. As much as I love to diy, the kitchen is important to me.

This is why a min 23 inch roof raise is so important.

To me, a counter built in front of a window is a hacked up mess, just waiting for a condensation issue. They would also be a pain to clean behind.

Once you lift the roof, Things start to fit like a home, not a steel can.

It's also real nice to be able to see out the window standing up, and see the sky sitting down, looking out the 4 foot high by 5 feet wide windows.
