i would like to say that it doesnt matter how many guns or bullets you have when you run out of bullets.
for survival a knife will keep you alive longer than a gun

This virus has me thinking about a lot of stuff.

Sports, movies, flea markets, county fairs, weekend festivals, etc... guessing it’s a couple years at least.

A couple of years is enough time to basically grind it out of our culture. I'm not sure whether I should try to sell my home and get out while maybe I still can, or hunker down hoping it ends in a couple of months, or near the end of the year.

I want to find a place to start homesteading, not engage in tourism. This really threatens to kill the dream, man.

I've got one. Next to my gun. But I've got more ammo than two people can carry.

My goto knives are my Becker BK7 and BK9. I have to say I kind of like the BK9 more. I didn't learn to fight with them, just to replace my kitchenware and other tools. Chopped wood for a season with the 9.


Even if you only possessed a modest amount of ammo to begin with, by the time you run out you're probably going to have a lot more problems than just defense/armament. How many gunfights can one get into unscathed even with significant force multipliers like thermal or night vision? Even just talking encounters with big cats or bears you really want to avoid the fight altogether to give yourself the best chance to thrive long term.

I just got a whole box of nitrile gloves for $17. Well I just PAID for it anyhow. Says guaranteed to be here by the 18th.

I figured they're be a lot more $.
I'll have about 200 pair once they get here. I'm relieved to know these things are available.

I stocked up on harbor freight gloves a month ago. But only got about 20 dust masks. Better than nothing at least.

I don't use the gloves shopping. I wash my hands before each order and sanitize between loading the groceries in my car and delivering to your door.

Amazon is a completely different story. Don't get many deliveries but I wear gloves start to finish. Usually a two or three hour shift. Then toss them. I don't come in contact with people on those shifts once I load the boxes so I don't wear the mask.

Whole foods though is a mess. Last week Amazon had five driver's lined up for the same shift schedule. But only let one driver at a time load the bags. I was fifth in line and each driver before me was rifling through bags on the shelf then in the fridge then the freezer to find which bags were theirs. Hands over each one. Kind of hard not to, but three of them weren't wearing gloves.

The rest of us were standing in line six feet apart from each other, but only about three foot away from the registers where customers were. All the while the whole food employees who were shopping orders were back and forth to the shelves and the freezers and fridge with the one driver back there.

I don't think I'm doing another whole foods delivery until this is over.

Only the occasional pot delivery driver is wearing gloves on any of our deliveries. The insta cart girls haven't been.

If 1500 rounds or more each of virtually every caliber isn't enough ammo I'll be on my way to a fema camp... or wherever isn't an actual warzone.

In total I have about 10 50 cal boxes full of commercial US ammo. I have many spam cans of commie surplus ammo in 7.62x54 and x39. And a silly amount of .223.
It would take us quite a while to move it all. A few 50cal cans of ammo is plenty though.

I’m not a concert every weekend guy but I do enjoy a jimmy buffett concert that happens to fall on a Saturdays when I can. But seriously, what about any forum that has many people attend? Don't crush my hope. Outdoor concerts and events is the primary reason I have a bus. I've got over a dozen this summer. A few starting in may have been pushed back and luckily none have overlapped thus far.

But, I don't see how a lot of them are going to happen. The thing about flattening the curve that most have overlooked is the fact we're spreading this out over a longer period of time. I don't see how it won't be pushed into summer, unless the virus dies out due to the higher temperature. But if that can occur, how does a place like Australia, who is now at the end of their summer, have cases? I'd think if heat killed this, it wouldn't exist in a place in the southern hemisphere right now, and that's not true at all.

I think that is because politics is inherently adversarial, and I also think that there are times that adversarial nature comes more to the forefront than other times. In my mind that is one of the drawbacks to having a political system that effectively has only 2 parties.

Personally, I think Bernie should run as an Independent so we can all see what happens to a defacto 2 party system in a crisis.

I agree, we've had for years a 3rd party libertarian candidate. Only once did they gain any traction in the republican party to actually get a few delegates. Bernie should run, he's got the support and should have the funds, and he truly is far enough out of the democratic party that he could have a sizable amount of votes.

I also think the odds of survival goes down exponentially with each shot one would fire. Best idea is to be quiet, well hidden, and remote from others. Use a gun in defense when needed, but I bet someone like Mick Dodge will out live 99% of the ammo hoarders.

I heard a quote somewhere, paraphrasing: "your handgun exists to get you back to the rifle you never should have left behind". If you are anticipating violence you'd best try and increase the engagement distance as much as possible. If you are in a position where you are reacting real time to violence, I'd say think hard about retreat first.

I also think the odds of survival goes down exponentially with each shot one would fire. Best idea is to be quiet, well hidden, and remote from others. Use a gun in defense when needed, but I bet someone like Mick Dodge will out live 99% of the ammo hoarders.

Whenever you think to engage you need to ask yourself the question whether your actions will end the fight. If its one or two guys yeah, probably. 3-5 they may scatter. 5+ armed dudes having their way with the sheeple you are probably not going to end it immediately even with good shot placement.


All hypotheticals I feel are far divorced from the current situation, depending on where you are of course. If you think things are about to get hairy where you are best bet is to leave.

I have a few friends who are musicians and they're hurtin right now. Prob is they don't save much of the money when its flowing in.

bro- spreading it out over a longer time is the point of flattening the curve. Gives the medical system more time. That's the exact point of it. Look we're hurtin for income as bad as anyone. Think of it as "wartime". Folks all had to make sacrifices in the BIG ones. Now the enemy is something we're not as familiar with. This is going to take cooperation and coordination to make it better, man. This is all where personal responsibility, patriotism, and civic duty REALLY matter the most.

None of the "3rd" parties will ever gain traction till common folks stop legitimizing the broken two party system and refuse to accept the corporate offerings. Indoctrination is very hard to break away from. Individuals have to decide to change things. Can't wait for the herd to do it.

Self defense definitely involves getting out of harms way as soon as you can.
My lifted shorty sure feels like it would be a good emergency bugout vehicle. Could drive through flooded roads if needed, its heavy and tough. Decent fuel mileage at 10+.

I live right in the center of town. I'd feel a lot better about being in the middle of nowhere. But I do get groceries and stuff easier in town than I would in the boonies.
