Just came back from the Vet (dogo's 6 month checkup)
New routine there -- call us from the parking lot, we'll come get your dog, the vet will talk to you on the phone as necessary & post exam. You wait in your car. We'll call you again to say we're bringing back your dog.

Independent medically educated people -- they ain't fooling around...
Less total contact time then I have with a check-out-clerk at a store.

My human dental exam was the same way -- wait in the parking lot till we bring you in straight to the dental chair -- when you're done -- straight out the door you go.

I think I kinda prefer it -- neither place had a cool-hang-out-lobby to begin with...

I've gotta get a tooth pulled. My dentist's office burned down late last year so I'm looking for a new one. I'll make sure and ask about their covid policies.

I'm sure the ADA has put out a best practices that most are using --
I answered a questionnaire in the parking lot, they took my temp when I entered the building before being seated, they already had my insurance info so I was emailed a receipt for the visit. The dental tech wore a full face shield over the usual mask and glasses. I'm sure it was cleaner and safer there than at a public store of any kind...

Don't wait on a bad tooth -- it can only get worse...

You're not supposed to tell everyone how good it is there Jack!:biggrin:You know after the hoards of non compliance types ruin the major cities they'll start heading your way to screw it up there also.
It's much the same here in B.C. Everyone is getting fed up and starting to show much less common sense when away from home, doesn't help having so many mixed messages from the gov.
Take care stay safe all
Haha! Some of those trouble makers already tried to cause grief here, and in a neighboring county, they were quickly ushered back on their busses and escorted out of town by the sheriffs office, so I was told.....

If you're talking about the multiracial family that was held at gunpoint I hope the "armed residents" and sheriff are all going to be prosecuted for unlawful detainment or false imprisonment along with brandishing a firearm and assault with a deadly weapon.
But this really isn't the thread for that. Yall remember that thread, right?

No, not them. These were self proclaimed trouble makers so they were escorted across the state and out of each local jurisdiction until they were back in Colorado where they claimed to be from.

I really like the zero / low contact options now.. more and more places I go I can pay with my phone and never touch a screen, apparently some car dealers are even coming out with trucks to do routine maint like oil changes and what not.. which is cool.. I dread going to the dealer (the cars are new and leased so I use the dealer for 0$ service)..

I love ordering food online, I havent yet gotten a haircut but I really need one.. my barber shoip is even wait outside ... the DMV is now wait online and not in line...

Atm machine just ate our card outside publix. No way I'm going in there to retrieve it. Calling the bank and getting a new one sent.
Anyone else noticed that new bank cards are VERY fragile? Left it in the car one hour today and it literally warped so bad the machine wouldn't spit it back out.

SNIP...

Things I don't think about...
I've been cutting my own hair for the past 30 years -- mirror tricks -- just grew too fast to keep up with Military standards--I used to trim it every week...

That seems like a good thing to me -- self destructs if you drop it outside...

This is the third atm/debit card we've had to order since March. One hour in the car and the card is TOAST. Even in the trunk.

Okay, that IS a little crazy and more than a little annoying considering how often we use them...

But I have not noticed my cards being "cheaper" made -- seems better to me if anything 'cause they all have the chip in them now...

So this was the perfect experiment in old vs new cards. MY old card was sitting right next to our shared new card. Literally next to it for the same amount of time too. Old card is fine. New one turned to bacon.
:marshmallow:

I dont use ATM cards.. cash is out for me.. screw that crap.. I oay with my phone everywhere I go occasionally ill use a card itself but ive told several places i go asta lavista for not taking contactless pay or at least CC (yeah they were cash only.. buh bye this is 2020)..

ive heard diesel is tied to freight so ive found that areas where it was only truckers are lower.. ie truck stop in te middle of columbus has lower prices than the one along the major highway where tourists in campers would go..

could also be some companies hedged a bunch of fuel when the oil price was $18 a barrel... diesel seems to lag the gasoline trends by a bit..

Yeah we haven't had actual cash on hand much so was going to get a few hundred out to have for whatever. Pot deals etc.
I mostly pay for my cannabis using a touch free payment app called Canpay.
Any cash we've had/handled was done so with a rubber glove and all cash is placed in a hot sunny place for a week before we'll actually touch any of it.

Reading the news from around the country it seems alarm bells are starting to go off again like its the beginning of March. Only less people seem to be hearing them. Arizona, Alabama, GA, FL, TX all seem to be having spikes and hospitalizations rising.

Meanwhile in NZ they're lamenting their TWO new cases brought in from the UK.

NZ's always been very careful about bugs & crud coming into the country -- they observed Australia's issues with rabbits and things...

I remember (back in the '90s) our gear being very carefully examined at NZ customs when we landed and even though we'd cleaned our hiking boots (I'd been warned) they (very politely) took our boots away to be gamma-rayed or somehow disinfected -- only took an extra couple minutes...
