Ok, so why are you spreading hearsay on a friendly forum meant to help people. Just why is your hearsay friendly or useful? To sow doubt?
Sure not 100% accurate data, ok, so what? 90% not good enough for you?

Unforunately if you feel bullied by my questioning your evidence, you might move on to a safer topic. My son's friend is a school teacher who is highly at risk of death, and some of folks think he should just go risk his life to pretend everything is fake. Nope, not going to tolerate it.

Christopher, your sentiments on the vaccination are spot on. Sounds like you are in my age group. I too, grew up where we could not be admitted to school unless we had all our booster shots. We could not fly overseas until we had specific added booster shots. Heck, I am still alive! Perhaps if this new drug proves to have some drastic side effects or such, I'll be on the award list for compensation. As you said, live life, love life, embrace it and keep moving on. Hopefully there will be enough people willing to take the dual dose vaccine and we can eradicate this thing until a new virus comes along....

And mask mandatory states are ? No. The entire country has it spreading, mask are not stopping it. Just making people feel comfortable when they go shopping(mostly non-essential). But Hey pizza is worth it right..?
 
I don't know. I live in a town of uptight old people in a state where the Governor is quite proactive on the COVID. Which is a pain, but our infection rates are low. Which is great.

As I wear glasses, I really hate the mask, but I do conform. The way it's going across the country people here are now masking up when there is no realistic chance of picking up the virus. It's pretty silly, but so far I haven't really had to fear contracting the virus.

As animals we live in the biological world first, the ideological world is our second home.

thats part of the issue is that the activities people want to do most.. drink, eat, and smoke are not possible with a mask on.. activities that are moderate to low risk are the easiest to wear a mask.. (shopping, car repair centers, picking up curbside or walk-in-carryout).. the contact tracing here in ohio still points to private gatherings in homes as a large amount of the spread.. im not sure at this point what a pro-active governor is.. as they all seem to want to restrict public outings.. which seems to send people into private homes more.. or limit hours (like here) which essentially stuffs people together with less ability to spread out... stay-at-home orders only keep the people home that stay home anyway..



ohio created an "enforcement team" to supposedly make sure businesses were keeping to social distancing and masking of employees and patrons.. yet everyone ive talked to has said the "officers" have only ever showed up in retail stores which were already doing a good job... the Local "roosters" sports bar chain often has groups of people standing outside waiting to get in.. even in the cold.. yet they go on.. maybe the overflowing parking lot is 1 person per car so the inside isnt "ass packed" but beinbg said places were one of my hangouts pre covid I can pretty certain say there aint a lot of distancing.. granted im not one for narking on people but if rules are enacted and not enforced they are lip service.. our numbers will continue to go up until said governer shuts it all down.. punishing everyone for a few bad apples..
 
I wear a mask and sanitize out of respect for others around me. Have I limited my exposure by staying home? Yes as much as possible. Do I want to get sick or see my friends and family sick? of course not. Now I'm going to go in a completely different direction and suggest that the best course of action should have been to let it run its course! Ok stop swearing at me! Has anyone even considered that maybe WE'RE THE VIRUS?

Smog/air pollution
Fracking poluting ground water
Ocean plastics pollution
Food shortages
Brazilian rain forests shaved for cattle production
California Wild fires
And on and on.
Everything is a direct result of over-population
Christmas Day 2004 a tsunami in the Indian Ocean killed almost 300,000 people and the world didn't skip a beat, heck we had Boxing Day shopping to do!
12 months after the mass distribution of a vaccine this will be perceived as over and the world population will continue on distroying itself.

I think mitigation efforts such as masking and distancing certainly are worth it.. i dont however think these lockdowns are beneficial.. the more i watch the more i realize lockdowns are a means of control and a way to set precedents for any little thing in the future.. lockdowns in place in many states yet protesters werent rounded up and fined for violating them.. but god forbid a person was out for a wlak with their dog after curfew and they got a talking to (no ticket was issued but the officer told the friend to head immediately into their home and stay there... so sorry if he gets fat and dies doesnt matter only the furfew mattered)


I dont think a tsunami compares to a virus however the average survival rate when added up is 98.5% or more.. where is the personal responsibility? from the beginni ng the overwhelming science has spoken that those who are old, fat, diabetic, cardiac, and lung patients as well as vapers and smokers who are at the highest risk of serious illness.. yet they are out and about just as much as the healthy population in crowded places.. at what point should I and others be punished and told to shutter and "hunker down" because some old fat guy wants to drink a beer with his buddies in a bustling bar?


we could say on average 40,000 people die a year because of car crashes.. do we take the cars away? we could say 50,000 people die a year because of the flu, do we close whole cities when the flu outbreak gets bad? (at most a school or office closes a few days)..



this could be better understood if the virus was something ebola with a 20% death rate and no identifiable demographic.. but we know who is at risk for this one and those groups dont take any kind of heed to it.. how many seniors invited their kids and grandkids to thanksgiving? Lots from what I read.. whos fault? the kids or parents? BOTH!! the kids knew better and the parents knew better..



yet me and others who have wore our masks and stopped doing the things we love in the name of safety get punished by curfews and hunker-rules?
 
actually smokers for whatever reason have a lower mortality rate than non-smokers. At least early data indicated that. Haven't checked or heard any more... But in France 25% of the population smokes and smokers only made up 8% of the deaths. So there's that.

This mismanaged public health crisis has already claimed about 10x as many AMERICANS this year as car accidents. Car accidents aren't even airborne contagious diseases... yet we're way more concerned with traffic safety... I mean- road signs are telling people what to do. That's an infringement on FREEDOM lol. if we put 10% as much effort into fighting this pandemic as we did automotive safety things would be much different.
No one's really talking lockdowns here, Chris. Those are for countries more rooted in science and civic responsibility. I think the general plea to the public in the US is simply to please acknowledge that this shits real and wear a mask when applicable. That's all I'm saying.

Regarding smokers, yesterday I was at Home Depot and noticed an elderly lady on a power chair with an oxygen tube going in her nose. She got outside and immediately lit up a cigarette! Oscar, I do have to agree with you on many points you make.
 
I may be a victim of this horrible thing. Last Thursday my father in law called to say he hadn't eaten in four days and was feeling weak. We went over there to see him looking really terrible with one of his eyes drooping. He was incoherent. A few years ago he was in a bad car wreck and had hemmoraging of the brain so we thought maybe a blood vessel popped or he was having a mild stroke. We put him in the car and drove him to the hospital where they found he has Covid at 82 years old. My wife and I always wear a mask around him but I think he caught it going for his daily coffee runs to the McDonalds at Walmart.They put him on remdesevere (sp) and he is doing fine. Over the weekend I worked on the bus but it was cold and windy. Crappy chilly weather for Phoenix. I started off with chills last night and today I am all achy with head and joint pain. Tonight I am creeping up towards a fever at 100.1. Despite wearing a mask and doing the best to use hand sanitizer, I think it was just inevitable. My wife seems to be fine with a slight runny nose. I can at least say it took a year to get us!. My hen Zoe (We breed tame Classic Old frills Satinette pigeons) slept with me the entire day and cuddled up to my face preening my beard.
So I guess this thing is super highly contagious regardless of how well we think we are protecting ourselves. We had close to 12,000 cases today but its actually higher since not all the labs report their results over the weekend.

I love that picture! I hate that you may have COVID-19. Keep up your fluids and try not to do too much ... but keep exercising (walking and moving). You can beat it!
 
Thanks guys for the well wishes. The head pressure and aches are just absolutely relentless. Spiking stabbing pains behind the eyes to boot. I think everyone gets it differently. My wife is fine aside from a slight runny nose. I woke up with severe aches but no fever. I keep dumping Tylenol down the hatch to control both pain and fever. So far haven't gone over 98.8. Cant really say I slept much but that's ok. That is what the day is for!

They say sleeping on your stomach helps.
I can't prove I had covid back in January, but I had every single symptom. At night the only rest I could get was taking a ton of Dimetap and laying on my stomach.
