Hi my name is Scott, and Laura and I are just starting out in the idea of becoming Skoolie owners. I guess my first question should be answered to move forward that’s Newer or Old? We are looking at a 1964 dodge midsize 318 3 speed manual. I love old but not sure if it’s the best idea as we will use it to travel quite a bit. This question is what prompted me to this site, looking forward to what you have to say.

There is nothing wrong with old but the two questions that may be asked are how handy or mechanically inclined are you and what is your plan for sourcing parts for something of that vintage? If you have a passion for old things then go for it!

A vintage bus like that won't be very good for traveling "quite a bit". Go for something with a more modern diesel engine and overdrive.

Thanks and yes this is what I thought as well. I just love vintage. I’m sure I will come to my senses through time. 😆

Okay so the new, 2008 International CE300 75,000 Klm’s air breaks asking price 7,500 I haven’t read many reviews but the ones I did didn’t support this vehicle as they noted emissions were very bad on this vehicle.

You don't want anything newer than an 04 model. EPA killed the quality of everything after that. That bus is going for near what some of the older ones get, know why that is?

I’m told they sold the daycare and the new owners didn’t want to take on the bus, so he is now selling it separately. The bus is commercially inspected as of 6 months ago.

I love old simple machines. I daily drive a retired Chevy fire rescue truck. Built in 87, when a truck was a truck.
But no way would I want to drive an old 3 speed school bus of that vintage across the USA.
I want a bus precisely like OP is asking about but I want one because I simply want to tool around my county in an old bus and I don't need to cruise too fast to do so.

My shorty is a real highway machine though. It will do 80!
