We are looking at a few busses now, one is a flatnose bluebird with a cummins diesel and allison auto tranny. Its a good clean / well maintained bus. 160,000. No rust texas bus. Air brakes

If anyone has opinions on this setup please chime in. Is 160,00 to many miles. I have heard not for a diesel..

The reality is we will be set up for a few months at a time between moves, so we wont be driving the wheels off of the thing. We will be full timing for at least a few years. Would gas be a better option, since we wont really be racking up the miles..??

Im waiting on my conversion books, that will probably answer all of the newbie questions that I have

thanks for the time

I have heard good and bad about the Cummins 5.9. One person who you might want to ask Greg Archambault about engines. He is a really good guy that is honest, with tons of experience. What Allison tranny does it have? If it has the MT643 you are better off, from what I have heard the AT545 is ok but not the best. The MT643 also has a lockup converter. You can contact Greg from his website flbus.tripod.com. HTH

gregg is very knowledgebale. I think you'll find his opinion to be that the 5.9 cummings is one of the worse diesel engines when it comes to skoolies.

Thanks for the input..hopefully If I ask enough questions early on, it will keep me from making some serious snafu's..thanks again
