Curtains

Hi,

Looking for curtain ideas. Wondering what others have done, what works, what doesn’t.

I’m thinking of using stainless cable to suspend them. Top and bottom maybe?

How long? A curtain for each window? It’s a 5 window shorty if that matters.

We made insulated shades that are fixed at the bottom and roll up, with a tension bar inside a pocket on the top edge that allows us to adjust the height. They've got marine vinyl on the outside, polar fleece in the middle, and cotton on the inside. They've been working pretty well to keep the heat and cold at bay. We've also got light cotton curtains that are attached to our exposed electrical conduit at the top (like a curtain rod), and we can pull these across when the shades are down to let the breeze in and keep the sun from heating up the bus too much.

Magnets work wonders on holding curtains up, also no one will get hurt on them like they could on curtain rods, brackets etc.

1/2in EMT with twin sheets as curtains. WM sheets are cheap enough to change colors now and then.

We haven't made them yet, but we're going to be using the insulation material that one gets when ordering cold groceries through Amazon, contained within whatever cool pattern of fabric my wife wants. We'll be using magnets to hold them in place, and when not in use, they'll be stowed.

That works just fine. We did that back in the '70's when we camped out of a Carryall. We soon learned just how "slippery" small magnets can be and how hard it could be to round 'em up again. We eventually went to round based magnets that had a clip attached to grip the fabric and simply left the magnets in place. Something better has no doubt been invented since then.

You can get the extruded magnetic stick stuff that's in the edge of refrigerator doors in lengths and rolls. Just sew it into pockets. (NB: I have no idea how to sew.)

I have a bunch of 3/4" by 1&1/2" magnets that hold really well. Bought them from an on-line magnetic stuff retailer. Every bus owner who want to temporarily stick things to a bus needs a bunch of similar magnets.
