Hello all, first post on here!
My partner and I are in the process of building out a 30’ 2006 cab over Thomas Int. and are nearly done with all the demo.

With some basic info out of the way…
I want to completely rebuild the dash and have removed most of it already. I removed the defroster and plan to replace it with a new one as none of the heating/cooling systems worked in the bus when we bought it (plus they are just nasty and clunky as all get out). The front metal ‘box’ component that ‘spreads’ the air across the windshield has been a real pain to remove. Most of the mechanical parts were broken and again very very dirty on the inside (since this will be a full time home we don’t want to breathe all the old dust and whatever else is in there). I also would like to clean the space between the windshield and this part as there’s years of pencils and other odd things stuck in there. As I’ve started trying to remove this piece it almost seems to be stuck under the windshield itself, the side closer to the inside of the bus lifts and wiggles freely but it won’t come all the way out. I am afraid of damaging the windshield and needing to replace it as a small crack has already formed from me trying to remove this piece.
All this to ask if anyone knows of a way to remove this safely??
