Hey Texans,

I am daydreaming /planning for a future parking spot for my Skoolie.

I found an acre lot that fronts on Eagle Lake. It looks like a beautiful spot.

Is anyone here familiar with the area?

It was looking like something that I could get really excited about until the Realtor told me that I cannot take my canoe out on the lake because of the alligators......

What is the reality of alligators in East Texas?

I lived for years in the Lubbock area and have never heard of alligators in Texas.

Thanks.

S.

I live in Taylor Lake Village which is on a peninsula and backs up against the Armand Bayou Nature Preserve, and yes we have gators. That doesn't stop us or anyone else in the area from kayaking, or canoeing. We even go looking for gators. Although I have never seen a gator come up to our neighborhood kayak launch, I have heard about it, and we do not allow our children to swim in the lake. There has only been 1 death in Texas due to alligators in the last 200 years, and it's the guys own damn fault. Literally his last words were, "Ƒưċķ that alligator!"
