making 1500 hp from a 8v71 block is possible... how much money do you want to spend?

Gee, when I rebuilt '71's, (about 30 years ago) it was a hundred bucks a hole, after core refund. You got a liner, with a piston in it on a connecting rod, drop it into the hole and bolt up the conn rod with new bearings. That was on fishing boats, not high performance stuff.

Some trucks ran 12V71 Jimmies in that era...saw one in an early-70's KW cabover last year (though that had no turbos). 1500HP would be POSSIBLE (there are competition sledpullers making that from a 6-71), but certainly not practical for road use!
