Disconnected stop sign, now turn signals don't work

I have a short in my right turn signal that I thought was caused by rusty light sockets. (That's a thing, right?) I took out the bulbs and it still shorts. The left turn signal was fine, and I haven't addressed or found the short yet. Then I removed the stop sign, cut the wires just for that arm and the stop sign lights... that little bundle... and now neither of my turn signals work. They aren't getting any power.

The upper flashers still work, the headlights work, the front corner lights (amber beside the headlights) work with the headlights on but don't flash.

Somebody did mess with the wiring on this bus before I got it to install a DIY marquee sign light in the front and back, some new radio things, and they changed the AC switch entirely. Then they did something nuts with the headlights.... but I fixed that back to original with a wiring diagram. Anyway, I know very little about DC electrical things...

I cut the wires on the stop sign. Now there's no power to turn signals. Does this mean that the wiring coming back from the stop sign was somehow powering the turn signals? Or maybe something about the ground wire? Or is there some other possible explanation.

Did you already remove the wiring which you cut? If not, would you be able to splice them back to their original connection? Also, if you have, or can find online, a manual for your bus model, it might give you some clues about wiring layout.
