Long time lurker, first time poster.

Been (paper)working my design conversion, has planned on putting a murphy bed on an RV style popout - The bed would be sideways, over the wheel wells, and be able to come down over the couch, or, with the pop-out extended, opposite the couch in its own nook.

No side walls for this popout, either - I'm planning on fabbing up an accordion section to compress into a gap built into a surround around murphy bed mechanism.

So back to my question - Searching for the lightest and easiest options possible for a DIY popout - I had considered a pop-up camper type 'bedroom', with a flap which comes down and was supported by suspension, but found a normal RV popout to be more what I'd prefer. I will have no problem with the movement (hand, pulleys, whatever), but the slides always seemed like a pain - But then I saw the 1000lb capacity on the Kwikee 42-60" cargo slide trays. Is there any reason which would prevent this from being used on a slide-out, to hold a thin wall (7' wide by 5' tall or so), with at most 2 people and a mattress?

I don't see any reason that tray wouldn't work once you come up with a way to secure it to the bus. Here is a link to it.

My little bus has a slide out bed in the same location as you plan on but I went with rollers and a central rack and pinion unit. Lots of ways to skin a cat. Jack:popcorn:
