Does this part of the wall get removed?

Hi,
I am ripping out the walls and was wondering if this part on the bottom with the lip gets taken out. I can imagine it being useful to affix things to but if it’s going to be a nightmare to insulate or cause more probs I will take it out. Best practice to remove it?

Were the seats bolted to it?
Most likely it needs to stay, then. Seat rails are typically structural...

That's obviously the chair rail, but I wonder why it has so many holes. Mine doesn't have anywhere near that many holes.

Probably intentional for seat spacing in different buses. The chair rails are a major part of the structural design of the body.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. It's definitely not an accident. They're too evenly spaced. But I think it would be stronger if there weren't so many holes.

The holes are not in a stress plane, doesn't weaken the system at all.

Yeah, but wouldn't the stress plane depend at least in part upon the direction of the application of the force? I wouldn't see that as totally predictable. But I guess I mostly just don't like unnecessary holes.

The main stiffening agent is the yellow painted portion, providing reinforcement against torsional forces.
Can only guess that all those holes were to attach the walls to. In frame 3, the hat channel forward of the dangling light has holes spaced approximately the same distances.
Seems overkill to me, but I make no claims to being a mechanical engineer! Agreed, tho: excess holes are messy.
Particularly those stippled with GSR... [emoji849]
