Door lock suggestions

Hi all. I'm working hard on my bus that I bought in August. Right now i"m looking for ways to lock it up securely from the outside. I have seen puck looks on double flap door ( student entry door). Anyone had any luck with those? Any other suggestions?

I have 2 concerns with those
1) if you're inside... Someone can come along and lock you in!
2) if you're inside, you can't operate THAT lock from the inside.

If you can live with those 2 considerations, I don't see any problem with the puck style locks.

And yes, I realize you mentioned locking from the outside....

we drilled out a hole in our back emergency door and installed a deadbolt. it has the lever on the inside. we used a heavy duty one designed for security doors but depending on the thickness of your door, you may be able to use a common household deadbolt.
our front door only locks from inside so we use the back door to come and go when we need to lock up.

It isn't the most elegant solution, but the bus doors are not going to be staying once the build is complete. I installed two eye bolts and lock them with a bicycle u-lock.

Good points from everyone. I'll have manual latch locks on the inside so I can always be safe when I'm in the bus. The back door I can lock from the inside and no one is getting in that way but the flap doors seem like you could muscle them open from the outside. Right now they get 'sort of locked' when you shut them and the original bus driver handle that opens them engages but I bet it would fail if tested hard enough. Its that door I need an external lock for when I'm not on the bus. I have the driver door I can get in and out as well.
I guess I could just lock them all from the inside and just use the driver door to come and go.

I'm gonna post some pictures here soon. I have documented each step in photos so far. Its come a long way since tearing out the icky floor and the seats. Now the fun part has started with designing the built in furniture and making it like a mini little home. The sliding slat bed is done and I used two bus seats turned facing each other for the dinette. Now i'm designing the kitchen and getting ready to build it. I can't wait to take his thing on a trip!

You installed that directly on the old bus doors? Do you have a picture of how you did it? Security is a concern, as we will be using our bus to move to the Lower 48 with 2 kids.

I'll get some pictures tomorrow. It was an easy install - one hole drilled and some self-tapping screws. I did use the original bus doors and was very pleased with the result.

That type of lock is easily broken with a pipe.

That would be nice, except my beastie has full-length glass with no metal in the middle. I use a chain with two keyed-alike padlocks to secure the front entrance. For the e-door, I simply bored a hole into the inside handle and guard bracket and use a cheap carabiner. Someone tried to enter using the side door and couldn't.

I don't think I would even get a key entry for the front, once the door closes the bar won't let it open again except from the inside, cause you have to lift the handle first over the metal stop.

I want a key lock for the back door tho

Coming and going through the back door is not part of my plan. The lock I posted will work for most door situations tho.

I'd never seen that lock used on a front door previously.

My front door locks with the ignition key. I've found I don't like climbing in and out the back door while in town but I wanted a deadbolt so I could unlock it from the outside for loading things without going through the front door first.

I still haven't secured my top hatch. I've seen a number of ways to do that but none are in place yet.
