Evening,

I was looking through the build sheet for Sabrina, my 2006 IC CE200, and I got to thinking.

Would it be possible to swap the brake components (Dual piston calipers, pads, rotors, and associated hardware) front and rear from a 2012 IC CE300 onto my bus, or would it require changing both axles and other components to get it all to fit and work together?

(I don’t want the issue of the automotive style single piston brake calipers sticking and locking the brakes on possibly resulting in fire, so my thought process was to possibly swap them all out with dual piston calipers (where the caliper is firmly stationary on both the spindle and rear axle) from a later year bus.)

As a an auto mechanic, what is the difference between the sticking of a single vs dual?

Build sheet, call your local Stealer parts dept, give them the vin and they can either print it or email it to you.

Redesigning the brake system... ???
you are courageous !!!
It's not worth the trouble, just get the right chassis!
You could run into sensor, ECU and ABS issue, especially since your wiring is multiplexed!

If you go through with it, start a build thread so we can follow along!

I already have the build sheet printed.

Was curious if doing the swap was possible, either by simply changing the parts to the newer stuff, or did I need to take both front and rear axles and transfer them.

I'm sure your gonna have to do a bit of both and maybe some creative fab work too.... exciting project though!
