Easy cleaning of bus interior?

Curious how people keep their interior spaces clean?

What works best?

What doesn't?

What products?

What types of cleaning do you do to your bus? (Ie. Vaccuum, sweep, swiffer, leaf blower)

Where do you store your cleaning stuff that makes it easy access, yet discreet?

I'm thinking a simple tall hand sweeper, and a small Dyson unit with attachments to vacuum. Keep it attached vertically near front of bus, or a storage bay inside up front.

What do y'all do?


I hate cleaning, so I need to make it as easy and accessible to clean.

When my interior gets dusty I open the rear roof hatch, then drive at 65 MPH with the door wide open (Crown doors open inwards). Any dust and dirt flies forward and straight out the door. Easy!

I was driving up I-15 one time some summers ago when I drove through a flock/herd/school/whatever of bees, and they all sucked in through the roof hatch then a few seconds later straight back out through the door (except for the heroic few that had first sacrificed themselves on the windshield).

while i was living in my bus.....
for cleaning, i used a broom and a scooba robot mop.
i still call that robot my "love robot" it worked real good. (better than sex)

i'd spend hours watching that little girl polish the floor.

Dang it, I knew there was going to be a downside to my dropped floor section.

I definitely need to buy a good (and compact) vacuum cleaner, since my floor is impossible to keep clean with just a dustpan and broom.

I used to keep an battery powered broom in my bathroom for vacuuming cat litter. We have a litter box in there, and the cats like to grab litter with their paws when they're done so they can leave a trail behind them. It was pretty much a dustbuster on a stick with a handle on one end and a rotating brush head on the other, and the dustbuster could be removed if needed. Worked great and didn't cost much. After 7 years the batteries wore out. They come in different configurations and some of them can do more than just clean floors. Best thing, they're very small so it wouldn't be hard to find a cubbyhole to keep it in.

for the driver's area and steps, I use a air hose that is plumbed into the air ride seat supply...

I've got runner type rugs to catch stuff, those get shaken/beaten out regularly, a DeWalt 20v "stick vac" with HEPA and a broom...but when it's time (you know when it's time) I get out the old super broom and blow everything out. None of that battery operated weird whistling junk. 120v plug in for maximum air velocity.

Prevention.

We engineered our latest rig -- our ExpeditionVehicle -- with a rear entry and permanent porch.
As we stand outside on the porch, a few quick stomps remove most debris.

On the towel outside the door, our dogs are trained to scrub their tootsies on the command 'Tootsies!'... then repeat the procedure on the towel on the floor inside the door.

Not perfect, but a few quick spritzes from a plain-water bottle damps the floor, then a paper towel acts as a Twizzler (or whatever those big-bucks mop-heads are called).

My use of the term 'mop-head' singularly describes a cleansing device, and is not intended to 'denigrate' any group of people.

I am quite capable of earning another time-out/Strike/misdemeanor without equating floors to bizarre hair.

I concur. In fact, sex tends to make the place even messier. It's one of the worst cleaning techniques out there.

large marge they are called swiffer sweepers and i wish i could try my dogs to use one?
they shed so much long hair that i sweep up an entire other dog in hair twice a week.
even winter time they shed?
