Is the rustolium paint the best bang for the buck? Also how many coats and gallons were necessary for the job? I think i want to deal with the roof and windows before winter hits..and god do i hate winter.

I don't use any elastomeric paints. Rusto is $25 a gallon and enamel hardener is around $10 or so. IMO that's the best bang for the buck.
A buddy did his 35 foot RE with 5 gallons total. I think he had a bit leftover, but I can't recall.

Ive pulled some screws out that were rusty so im guessing it leaks..but this is something im going to need to do..

I don't think you get the same benefits with paint as you do with an elastomeric product made specifically for cooling and sealing roofs.

Thats the stuff im asking about..is one brand better than others? Affordable ones will run $20-$50..3 gallons should be good for 2 or 3 coats.

I'm using Henry's, it seems to have good reviews. I paid $227 for a 5 gallon and think this is money well spent for the dual purpose benefits. Plus it came in the color I wanted, which was not white.

Thats in the ball park price wise. So how many coats did you end up putting down? What color did you paint yours?

Where did you buy yours at? Im finding 5 gal. running $73-$5100..what was the item # of it?

before I put my roof rack on I cleaned, lightly sanded and painted the roof with 1 coat of rustoleum, then I covered all the seams with butyl tape, then a second coat of rustoleum, it fixed several leaks I saw, probably some I didnt see, 3 years later no leaks.

The elastomeric paint also has an R value..anything to add some heat block to the roof is a good thing

Haven't done mine yet. it's going to be Tan, not white. It goes on thick, so I'm not sure if multiple coats are necessary. Ordered it from Home Depot on line and had it delivered free.

Well I just bought Henrys #287 solar flex white roof coating for $82..i couldnt find one for the price you paid. But it says it can cool your interior by 20°. That plus 2+ of insulation in the roof should take care of the roof being a radiant heater..thanks for the heads up on that 01marc.

We used Henry Elastomeric roof sealer on ours, purchased at HD, has both insulative and sealant properties and was about $35/gal. Well worth it and seems to be holding well.

My bad on the R value thing. I had actually read the same thing about reflective properties. So Brokedown i should do it at night? I understand the magic oven thing..lol..
I used about 1.5 gallons to do 3 coats of rustoleum gloss white on my 32 foot bluebird. You do NOT want to be up there when the sun is shining, it's like a Showtime Magic Oven.. Set it, and forget it!
