It's a secret no one has figured out yet. I have no idea what the set screw is for because it sure doesn't make getting the handle off. I gave up.

There’s a roll pin that holds it in place. I used the mandrel from a rotary grinding wheel to punch Them out. The wheelchair door handle came off easily. I haven’t been able to pull the handle off the emergency door. I’ve tried various pry bars with no luck. I’m probably going to mask it and paint around it.

Sarcasm?

Now I'm curious...

No sarcasm. Normally a roll pin is a removable device where it is pressed into a through hole. I don't believe it's a roll pin, but a set screw, as the hole does not go through. I seriously don't know of anyone who has removed one.

Mine have roll pins and a hole on two sides. I’ve seen some fancy chrome ones in photos on this site. I’d like to replace the plastic with those.

You said the WC handle came off, but not the E door, is there a through hole in the E door handle for a roll pin? Mine was a set screw with an allen.

Both roll pins. I got the pins out but the E door handle is stuck on the spindle. I’d spray it with PB Blaster, but I’m prepping for paint. Wish I had a gear puller.

My emergency door's outer handle had a square shaft welded to it that the inner handle was attached to with a roll pin. Is yours similar? After the handles were removed I plated over the outside hole so nobody could put a square something inside and open the door; I kept the inner handle on a short length of square shaft so I can still open the door in an emergency from the inside.

I also removed the emergency rear window's two outer handles but kept its inner ones, just in case. After a break-in a few years ago I'm now a lot more aware of security weaknesses - I also put a pin through the two sliding halves of my driver's window so it cannot be slid open from outside.

Yes, it’s a square shaft with a notch cut around the perimeter about 3/4 inch from the end for the roll pin.

I’m installing a deadbolt on the two back doors and thinking about what to do with the passenger door.

I'm curious. Why take the handle off? I love my emergency door. We call it the grocery door. I use it all the time to load stuff. I have my bus secured with a couple of very territorial dogs, but a lock on the inside would work great and not remove the functionality of the door.
