emergency exit alarm

This is likely covered somewhere else but I was having trouble finding a post to answer my question. I'm having issues with my rear emergency exit. It randomly decides to start buzzing. I have never had issues with the bus not starting and I can usually leave all door open with the bus on without any alarm except for these random times it wants to be annoying. The switch itself seems to be old and sticking. My question is what do I need to do to cut off this thing? Can I just snip the 2 wires going to the switch and connect them together? Or just pull them off? I have no idea how the switch works to make it think the door is closed. Thanks in advance for any help.

In your picture the two wires on the right go to a reed switch.

You could buy a replacement reed switch but finding the right one may be troublesome. If you want it disconnected all together I believe you can cut those two wires and join them. It may buzz while you cut it. You could tap them together to see if it stops buzzing.

The item on the left in the picture looks like a buzzer.

From everything I've read on the vandalock system it's a connected circuit and if broken anywhere along the line it goes off.

Try disassembling first without cutting any wires and see what it does.

Although I'd heard that the alarms buzz if the circuit is open, on my bus it ended up being the opposite so just disconnecting the wires disabled the alarm in my case.

Mine ended up being the same as you kromboy... the buzzer went off when the wires were connected. I ended up removing the switch and taping off the wires and everything is all good now.
