Evacuating Florida from Hurricane Irma

Thats the hope! IF not may just show up in the jeep with the wife and dogs. Do you think everyone would be ok if I brought my camera and made a VLOG about the skoolie community?

Thanks for the input. I will be watching it and Friday we will make are decision to Stay or Leave. But most likely we are going to leave.

Holy crap

my apartment building in st pete got called for Evac.. im safe up in my ohio home so no worries... WAZE shows the traffic Nightmares on 75,95, and the turnpike in florida

im not sure why they dont turn some routes into one way routes and run the traffic backwards and close off the route to inbound traffic..

Ah, but they DO turn southbound lanes into northbound lanes for evacuation purposes. The sad part? People wait until the last minute.

what I advised my friends in st pete to do... a week ago when this storm appeared with its first tracks set on florida.. they booked a hotel room in atlanta.. you project out and book a room... most all major hotel chains have a stay modification / cancellation. of 24 hours.. so you have until 1 day before your stay is to commence to cancel or change it and keep your rate.. the rates are low at that point... as the storm began showing signs they realized the stay was booked a day early so they made it a day later for no penalty.. and they left early AM yesterday. as i and a couple other mets said it would likely be more west than the NWS was stating it would be... now their subdivision is under Mandatory Evac.. and they are safe in their $85 hampton in hotel room.. while the current rate is now $225. (maximum RAC allowed).. had the storm gone out to sea.. they simply wouldve cancelled the room for no charge..

Sucks, as so many of us here are still having to go to work tomorrow!
I've been so busy I've literally had no time to prepare save for a couple trips to Publix. Van is gassed up, we have canned boiled peanuts, peanut butter, bread, and Spam.
We usually don't get as much damage as the coastal communities. We'll likely have a bunch of trees down on power lines, and a bit of flooding in some low-lying areas.
Hoping for the best!

hopefully it stays on land and comes apart before it gets up to you and its just a bad thunderstorm!! gas up those chainsaws! you'll probably be busy afterwords with work! but most of all stay indoors and stay safe!!

JUST picked up a new chain, some chain oil, and we keep stocked up on 2 stroke mix.
Hoping everyone stays safe, and that I maybe get some tree work after its over. I got rid of all my oaks. Now I only have palms. I love palms.
Chainsaws and generators will be cheap after its all over!

Harvey was lots of water...Irma is some really serious wind. You guys try and bolt everything gown and stay safe. Best of luck your way.

During the Y2k Scare, Home Depot stated firmly that all generator sales were FINAL! I suppose Harbor Crap will do the same.

I am in the Tampa Bay area - The Biggie Bus is packed up and ready to ride out the storm - I should be able to hang out off-grid for several days. This will be a test. My house is not in a flood zone - so I am hoping for less wind.
Keep yourselves and your pets safe!

I still can't bring myself to try boiled peanuts... Had a friend in Lakeland tell me about them but they just don't sound appealing to me. I have visions of soggy peanuts that I just can't get over. Maybe it's a texture thing... Hate sweet potatoes, squash, and chocolate gravy
