Is that over in Apopka at Gideons?

I've watched but never bid on anything. Stuff there seems artificially high priced.

SWEEEEEEET van!! :thumb::thumb:

well, that one is as cheap as it gets for an extended van.
no complaints from me based on the prices I've been following

There's a nearly identical van at a local church I've been keeping an eye on. If I ever see it for sale its MINE!

Congrats again, man! I love those classic GM vans.

Raul, you feeling ok?

You did what?

I can hardly believe what I read here.

Lots of fun there and a good choice bud.

Lots of learning for you ahead and basically seems like a very sound vehicle.
Just right for your family to start with.
Enjoy man, glad you finally found something you like. :thumb:

yeah, it only took . . .
2 years + LOL:angel:

Roaches !!!

Went to get van today.

Money breakdown:
Van - $1250
New tag, registration, fees - $550
Insurance $150/year
Total $1950

The Good:
4 new nice looking tires
working AC
Starts, stops, no issues on the drive

The bad:
Roach infestation (left the van at a local home depot) - planning on stripping everything down to metal and plastic, then fumigating everything. :hide:
Engine oil leak - There was oil dripping everywhere, and they even had old engine oil bottles & funnel stored under the hood within the engine . . .

The bright side - it was a church van so... the roaches are holy & the oil has been blessed !

dude thats awesome!!!!!!

I love these vans!!!!! oil leaks on a 5.7 were somewhat common and most of them are pretty straight forward to fix..the most common failure being the PCV valve sticks and causes the crankcase pressure to go up and blow oil everywhere.. been there and fixed that $12 part and 10 minutes to put it on...

Something else that I forgot to mention.
No antifreeze in the reservoir. :banghead: I didn't notice any oil in there. But I'm wondering if there might be head gasket issue.
I kept an eye on the temp gauge and it stayed cool through the 1.5hr drive.

Will update later today

If not smelling sweet antifreeze in the exhaust or seeing any white smoke/vapor its probably the intake manifold gasket. Those are notorious for going south.

Congrates Raul. Not sure you could have gotten a better choice(GM 350) for a place to practice the things you have learned over the last couple of years. A couple of bug bombs, A good wrench to remove the seats, and you (and the family) are off to the good life. You have been diligent for the that few years, and have asked a lot of good questions that should have you miles ahead of a lot of folks. When ya'll come to visit the families in Texas, let me know. we are planning a move back to the DFW area, as soon as the wife retires, and look forward to seeing those kids. I may even have found my "oddball" build by then.

Step 1. Chemical warfare.IMG_20180726_193853804.jpeg

dropped 2 cans in there today.
I'll drop 2 more tomorrow.

:hide:Man, there must be over 500 roaches in there !!! :hide:

Raul, check the coolant. soon and get it filled so that bottle is at the max hot level. Just pour premixed antifreeze, 50/50 likely but Dexcool from GMotors.

star finding out the oil leak and clean up small areas as you go. Tighten clamps etc, check wiring to the best of your ability and becareful of your pinkies ffs.....
