FINALLY get to start working on the bus! What should I do with the removed seats?

So it ONLY takes until the end of freaking April for the weather to be nice enough to start working on the conversion. Life in Ohio... sheesh... I think we're going to become snowbirds.

Anyway, so I've removed nine seats thus far. Most of the bolts in the floor had to be ground off with an angle grinder, though the ones in the sides generally came off with wrenches. Since I don't feel like keeping 18 bus seats in my back yard, I ask: Do people actually buy bus seats, or would I do best just to put them at the side of the road and see who takes them for free? Any suggestions?

Not a big market for used bus seats. I would recommend putting them on the side of the road with a for sale sign, that way someone will surely steal them. You might consider taking the cushions off and scrapping the steel frames for salvage.

I tried a free ad on CL and all it accomplished was to waste my time.

I wound up hauling them to the local recycling yard. They were willing to take them for free.

Interesting. I recently saw bus seats for sale on Craigslist in my local area, for $20 each. Admittedly I had hoped that I would be able to get at least a few bucks each.

Or maybe I can find a use for them... or maybe I'll just dump them and recycle the metal as suggested...

I posted a free ad on CL today for my seats. I'm not holding my breath...I anticipate a trip to the dump soon. In an effort to get more interest, I might edit my add to include all the ABC gum stuck under each cushion.

Amusingly enough, I wish I had one more of those little seats that you find in the back near the emergency door. I may use the one I have, and I might find a use for one more. My garage is full of seats now...

Of course, it'd be awesome if I could find a recliner or some other really comfortable "furniture" type chair for my wife... something that would be safe in a collision. (Not that I anticipate getting into a collision, but you never know...)

I had two buses worth of seats.
Striped the steel out and torched the rest. IMG_0959.jpg
Sorry but I don't seem to be able to orient the picture properly, you get the idea though:smile:
