Been pondering this over for nearly 5 months now. I'm busy selling off almost everything I own and listed my car to buy a short bus.

Spotted a very very nice 95 GMC on Craigslist and I have the airline miles to make it there. As soon as I have the money in hand I'll be off. This is the start of something fun and exciting. This will be my home for awhile and I plan to travel full time.

I've been lurking for awhile, reading and learning about all the things I need to think about before I commit to a bus. I have my list of wants and must haves and a loose idea of a floor plan though I haven't even committed to a thing.

My name is Jawa and it's nice to meet you.

Welcome and post pictures of the adventure retrieving your Shorty

Hey-hi Jawa,

Ther are a lot of great folks here with all kinds of knowledgable experience. And there are others who just seem to enjoy the adventure. Either way, welcome, enjoy and share.

We are Newbies and still exploring bus type--Crown's are being highly considered; a sweet, classic and classy bus. Can hardly wait to get to the stage of purchase!

I feel ya there on the selling stuff off thing.

Glad to have you here, and yes, please post some pics when you get the shorty.

Welcome aboard!

It is always nice having new people. There are a ton of pictures to get ideas on how to convert your bus. The people here are so nice and very helpful. Enjoy the site and welcome to the best Skoolie place on the net.

I'm kind of bummed out. The owner sold the bus and I still don't have the money together. Can't blame the guy, it was a very pretty bus. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1426874639.973683.jpg

The search continues. Anyone in the market for a Chrysler 300 let me know.

It's actually feasible in my case. I live with 3 roommates, all of whom are my coworkers. Need to sell it to free up money to buy a bus. I have about $10,000 tied up in this thing and, while I love it to death, it's time with me is over. I am paying nearly $500 month between the loan and insurance and want to cash out what little equity I can get out of it (paint, wheels, front clip, etc.) while I can. It's such a money sink at this point that I pretty much live paycheck to paycheck. It'd be nice to free that much money up and I could save much more quickly that way. Especially since my lease is up in June.

I am literally going nomad here. I don't want to babble and rant over the Internet but I am so fed up with being stuck somewhere with a lease and full time work that's the same thing every day. I am selling nearly everything I own in an attempt to build a new part of my life.

I plan to fly wherever I get the bus and drive it back anyways. I've spotted a few more that have caught my eye. It's all window shopping though until I have the money.

I salute your ambition, jawa.
I drove 775 miles and a friend followed me back in my car while drove the bus. Was a fun roatrip to say the least.

Nice.

I don't do car payments anymore. Only did once, and the truck made a ton of money.
IMO For personal, they don't make sense.

I'm a contractor and out of my 5 vehicles, I drive my 87 Honda CRX the most. I paid $1200 for it almost three years ago.

No ride I own is worth more than $6000.

I payed cash for them all.

This is my sixth vehicle and the first one I've had a loan for. I don't want to do that again.

Same Here!

Hey-hi Jawa01,

We're in the same situation, except that our finances are much tighter. We have a plan which is our forward push.

It's hard not to 'jump', but my point is to not attempt it until we are more in line with reality--eh!?? Cause, you know, haven't planted that money tree yet; neighbors!?? lol!

We found an 88' Winnebago; 67k, parked in a garage for 10 years. The owners want 5,500. It's a great deal and a good start; but it's not a bus and it's not a Crown!

The real truth, we're just not ready. Besides, I don't want a problem, I want a home--eh? I, actually, want to save and plan for an adventure or what's the point??

When the time is right, the right bus will appear! Advise for us both :)
Plus, as I have so many grand (not quite grandioso) plans, that it will give us time to realize that my plans are best--teehee!

Hang in there,

Anndru & Chuck
