Flasher lights... traveling thru states

We need to move our bus thru several states. It will be our "moving van" to NM. At this time, we would rather not pull the lights at the top (red & amber flashers for school). If we remove the coloured lenses & light bulbs could we take this bus thru Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas & New Mexico?

I wanted to bump this thread back to the top to see if anyone knows if other state laws would supercede the laws in the state where the bus is registered. For example, Texas has no problem with me having my flasher lights, but what if I am travelling through another state? Can they legally hassle me for something that is legal in the state where the bus is registered?

Our experience was .... no problem. We brought the bus out with the flasher lights intact and no tag thru NC, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas & New Mexico. The Jeep that the bus was towing was tagged in TN. No cop looked at us twice. We parked in parking lots all the way out except for twice... We stayed at a COE in Benbrook, TX and we stayed at a county park in Hobbs, NM. Had cops cruise past us in the parking lots real slow (looking us over to see if we might be a problem, I guess) but no one said a word to us.
