Floor rust & paint question? Now or later?

Hello Everyone,

I had hope of getting my roof raise weathered in before it turned cold & wet....

Too late......

I have the metal on the sides but have not finished the front and rear caps.

My floor did not have much rust. Just surface rust at that. I have left it alone as I gutted and started the roof raise.

Now that it is raining inside the bus, I am wondering if I should take advantage of our next dry patch and paint the floor? It will get wet again.

Or, am I as well off just to leave it be? How bad can an Eastern WA Winter be for contributing to rust? We are not on the coast and they don't salt the roads here.

Or, perhaps Ospho it and let it be?

If it continues to be moist of & on through the Winter am that much I better off painted?

Ospho and forget it till you can seal it up... Or go full on prime and paint with a good exterior oil based paint. Don't just leave it unless you can keep it mostly dry.

I would also blue tarp it if you can.. dont compoletely tape the bus shut but at least create some type of run-off so water doesnt just pour in. and also as others suggested protect the metal.

Rust inhibitive primer is cheap and easy to roll on for now.

Metal and water dont mix. I'd prep and prime asap
Who knows the quality of sheet metal bus companies use to build with. It will fladh over with surface rust fairly quick.

Another Yes vote for ospho and Rustoleum. Used them on my floor almost a year ago, and it has held up extremely well to all sorts of abuse during my build. I rolled two coats.
