finally...3/4" marine ply covered with 3/8" rubber gym flooring...100% recycled tires...fairly expensive, but supposedly impervious to stains, cuts, water, and dog barf...a good barrier for sound cold...and since buttercup is a shorty and it didn't take too much, this was my reward for the work it took to get to this step...one unexpected feature is that nothing slides on it...now we see how it holds up.

I thought I was set on my flooring, but now you're making me re-think it.

I used that stuff in my van. There is an eternal odor of rubber permeating the van. And sometimes complained about on long trips by the wife and kids.

I am with miltruckman on this i have worked with this flooring in the past and did not like odor results. I would check the brand out completely before I installed it in a tight living space.

I used this material as sound deadening on my firewall and in the genny box. I sort of like the "new car smell" it imparts on the bus. You may want to test to see if the material is completely water tight. Mine allows water to seep through and where I've used it that is not a problem. If, however, I'd have used it on the floor it might have caused a rust problem.

important point...i'd heard cautions about smell issues, so i checked this manufacturer's stock for smell carefully prior to ordering using their samples...no smell, so i ordered it...no smell...the double stick tape they supplied didn't hold, so i used contact cement which smelled much worse, but still not as bad as the old rotten ply and well-used barf mat...now a month after installation, still no smell...

i think maybe the difference in manufacturing/cost?...i understand the smell may be more an issue when a less expensive stock is used. .
