Greetings,

I have removed all the flooring except under the drivers foot pedals. My biggest question, is if I leave it there how will this impact the insulation from underneath. Follow-up question, behind the drivers seat I will install a 2'' step-up insulation board and flooring. If I keep the flooring under the pedals what can I use as insulation that matched the flooring under the pedals? Thank you

The front area has a lot of places it would be hard to insulate. I welded in a heavy duty bulkhead and built a wall with 3/4 ply then spray foamed it. Planning on not heating or cooling that area.

Most ignore it. It's not terrible, you may lose a tiny bit but nothing to write home about. Should be fine as long as you insulate up to the back of the driver seat. If you went beyond that to the stair well you're doing better than most.

I put 4 inches of XPS in my floor and only went up to the drivers seat due to my limited stair location. Would of made the stairs too tall on the last step in my bus type. That 4 inches really makes a difference in temps in my bus, and I don't even have ANY insulation on my sides or roof yet.

Haha! Just don’t do what I did! I built up my floor(5/8” plywood and 3/4” T&G heart pine. On first trip I realized that my accel pedal didn’t go all the way down. I had to take my oscillating tool and cut out under the pedal.

I have 2001 HDX just like you. I spray foamed the entire floor under the bus so as not to lose headroom. You could try foaming under the drivers seat and pedal area. It works pretty good under those steps too. Ppl ask if it flies off on the road.
Nope.

Thanks for the info. I've been playing with the idea of spraying underneath. Good to know you haven't seen road loss.
