A well-maintained 1996 Bluebird 7 Window Skoolie, factory-raised roof (77" interior height), DT466 NGD mechanical injection engine, MD3060 Allison 5-speed automatic, and rear air suspension was listed for $10,000 in Alabama. The bus, originally from Los Angeles and rust-free, featured significant upgrades: new rear differential, air bags, AC compressor, driveline work, and a new battery. The seller, a long-time automotive professional, detailed extensive maintenance and included extras like... More...
Pretty close. In parts alone-- $1450 for the reman differential-- NOT installed, $200 for 5 gallons of 75W-140 synthetic gear oil, $190 for Transynd 668 Transmision fluid, $100 for trans filter kit, $225 for AC compressor, and $60 for Filter dryer, plus Freon, $1350 paid to driveline shop to redo u-joints and driveshaft, new AD9 air drier was $300, the two new Goodyear airbags were $160 each, and I either did this myself, or hired it done-- like rerouting the exhaust out the side-- and most of this stuff you can't see-- but it really needed doing to make sure the bus was as "road- ready"-- as possible...most of the time none of these things ever get brought up...

I have some 250watt solar panels, an MPPT solar charge controller, a never used propane instant hot water heater that I will throw in. I also have a virtually new Samlex 12 volt 3000 watt pure sine wave invertor (this thing is a beast-- on Amazon for $1225) that I will ad for an additional charge.

My wife informed me that I have some "wiggle room..."

Most folks want to--
Raise the roof, and all that that entails plus the potential insurance issues-- this bus has sufficient roof height from the factory for most people--
Change the rear axle ratio-- already done
Have AC going down the road-- already has it-- in spades...
Air ride rear suspension-- don't know how you could add that--

Certainly a bit of a unicorn you have there :D
Air ride is one of the few things I regret missing out on for my bus.

I am in Hamilton, AL-- on I22 about 10 miles from the Alabama/Mississippi state line. We are about 70 miles south of the the Tennessee/Alabama state line.

Make me a reasonable offer. This is a good bus...

Wow. This is a GREAT bus… If I wasn’t in the middle of converting one right now, I would be all over this. I constantly search for NGD 466’s and they are harder and harder to find. Mine has a 6+1 behind it, and an automatic with air ride would sure be a nice “truck” to have. Good luck with the sale! Maybe someday!

I recommend buying from PorchDog. I've talked to him a couple of times. He is a straight up dude. I almost bought this bus, but I had personal physical issues come up. This bus is a unicorn. Still wish i had bought it. Just my 2 cents

The bus has been sitting for a couple of months at least, I reconnected the battery, and it turned over 3 or 4 revolutions and fired off. Temperature was about 60 degrees, 44 over night. It always puts a smile on my face to see it start so easily. No long crank time, no losing prime, it just operates like the old school diesels used to operate... before government intervention...

If it was already converted (which would obviously bump the price significantly) I'd be all over it. Trying hard to find a 97 or earlier (CA smog related), medium duty based (not van based), sub 30', high enough to easily stand in at 6'1"... they're hens teeth.

Really wish I had the space to convert it myself.

The bus is sold, he said with a tear in his eye...

The odyssey continues-- From Los Angeles to Flagstaff to almost Reno, back to Flagstaff to Hamilton, Alabama, and now the new owner just completed his leg of the journey to Buffalo, NY .

Long live old buses.....

Congrats, Jeffrey. I'm glad you found a new home for the bus and put the temptation out of my reach! :ROFLMAO:

I've still got the manual transmission 6 window-- if I can gather my gumption-- I want to do a mild conversion on it. It has a flame job exterior paint which I was very fortunate to have done by a talented guy, and if I never get it converted-- I get a kick out of driving it.

You need to check out the bus that just posted on here This is a gem waiting to be lived in. This is not a cheap offer kind of bus, but something deserving of 25k+ All the hard stuff is done.
