Its a nice bus but spend some of that 35 grand on a diesel swap!

I'm thinking he was/is smart enough to just buy the 427 tall block and save all the money and pain. Then it's bolt it in and go 300,000 miles or more easy/peasy.

IMHO, in the real world unless you are a long haul trucker or really racking up the miles like a long haul trucker ( of which 99% of Skoolie owners do not do), the expense of maintaining a diesel is not cost effective. Not to mention the expense and pain a diesel conversion would be. Plus anyone can work on that gasser and parts are readily available everywhere ------> CHEAP!

The couple bucks you "MAY" save in fuel (depending on current prices and miles traveled) doesn't add up to any real savings in the big picture. Do the "real world" math of the big picture.

Then I'll add the facts that a gas powered bus can sit idle or be stored easier. The gas bus starts easier especially in the cold. Warms up faster. Smells better and runs far quieter. Uses less oil and filters to maintain. Is far easier to maintain. Way less complicated.

Truthfully....... I've had both gas and diesel. I'm not a school bus driver, not driving starting and stopping and idling all day every day.

I probably use my bus like most skoolie folks do. It sits a lot...and makes mostly short trips and few extended trips a year. Even if I lived in it full time, I'm gonna be camping rather than driving the majority of the time. I'm gonna want something cheap and easy to maintain. And something that is bulletproof and dependable to start and go when I need to.

So my money is on the 427 tall block gasser.

And why my latest bus is a GM powered gasser.

I mean , even a caveman can keep that going............

I'd still do the gas engine regardless......and with that kind of bankroll to blow on an old bus..........it would be one sweet tweaked out gasser.....

No. Its been towed to a shop that converts buses "starting at 35k". "financing available".
