I am shopping for my bus and came across these. I talked to the owner of Company and he said that he use to have a Crown enthusiast on his staff, that is how he got them, but they have since moved to a new location with less space for inventory.

I am listing in this post his contact info, if you contact him and end up buying one please let him know You saw it here posted by Diane, he said he would give me a discount on mine (if I am able to get one) if any of them got bought through me posting them here. Even if I can not get the one I want I would hate to seem them wind up as scrape.

Here are the links to the three crown buses he has

Guess they're designed for the "Upper Crust" Skoolie, not us everyday Joes???
Unless the entire drivetrain has just been rebuilt and freshened up, they're in fantasy land on pricing...?

The prices for the two tandems are not unreasonable, provided that they have no mechanical problems. They probably have the big 14-liter Cummins 855 which is a torque monster. The pusher is probably one of the ex-San Diego ones that SD got rid of after only a few years: some of them went to Ventura. Those pushers have the Cummins 8.3, either a CT or a CTA, with Allison MT6xx transmissions. They're not bad, but not the best Crowns made either. For a serious conversion a pusher will always be easier, but some folk have made great conversions with mid-engine Crowns; it just takes more effort and ingenuity. The asking price however for the pusher is barmy - what's the seller smoking? A third of that price is more realistic! And what's his obsession about black rubber flooring? All Crowns had it; it's no big deal.

These buses have been advertised before, so be careful about checking them very carefully, and I mean VERY carefully. Don't rely on the seller to disclose everything important.

Caveat emptor.

John

I looked very closely at these Crowns a few months ago and spoke with several salespeople there. I have several pictures of both the '80 & the '86 somewhere if you are really interested I can dig them out. I also got the serial #'s for the engines on both and the trans on the '80

IIRC both the 80 & 86 have BC Cummins 855's and are reasonably priced considering their condition. The 89 is off the charts. That price is ridiculous.

I ultimately decided to go for a 2 axle 35' Crown instead but that 855 was hard to pass up.

They have been sitting for quite a long time, I first noticed them almost a year ago now.

Those prices do seem pretty high, as much as I love Crown's but that's just too much.

If you aren't dead set on a Crown bus, you can check out a local to you place in Garland, 615 E. Walnut, Garland Tx. I work in Garland and pass by it at least once a week, looks to be old school buses that have been used for church buses. 972-272-7557 Not sure which ones on their lot are for sale but you can reach out to them and see.

BTW: he is willing to negotiate Price with you

I have a rule against offering someone less than half their asking price for something even if they say best offer.

Same here, if I figure it's only worth half what they are asking I assume they won't take half for it, so why bother insulting them with a lowball offer. I don't like doing business with someone who lists it at a price that they will take less than half of for it. Tells me they are trying to cheat people.

Can I see the pix you have of the 1980 crown?
