Front defroster thoughts?

Oh, I can help with this one! To those saying pull the defrost and put a diesel heater in BussyMcBusface did this and ended up cracking their windshield. It's a fine line you need to walk by having enough heat but not too much.

As far as pulling heaters and keeping the defrost working we ran new lines down the middle of the bus from our engine to the front. Sorry for the Instagram link but it's the easiest way to show you.

Well, just because one guy did it the wrong way, doesn’t mean it cannot be done a right way. The air hitting my windshield is warm, but no hotter than the standard defrost air in any of my other vehicles. I can hold my hand at the defrost vent when it is running at 100%. I can also mix it with fresh air or redirect the heat to the cabin.

The problem is likely that BussyMcBusface had the exit air from the heater blowing directly onto the windshield. That could be around 200°F, more or less.

There's almost always a fix for anything and the best part of this community is there's a chance someone has already encountered your problem and knows the fix.

For less than $300 in parts and a weekend with a buddy I have fresh coolant lines from the back to the front and that was a solid solution to me, but I have a webasto heater so I desperately wanted to keep that in line to warm the engine during winter starts.

I also wired my webasto circulation pump independent of the burner relay so if I'm climbing a steep hill during the summer I can kick that on and use the nearly 100 feet of 1 inch line to help cycle coolant away from the engine and under the body of the bus where is hopeful cooler. And in a true over heating emergency I can blast my front heat to get more away from the engine.

It is probably way easier to just close the valves are the rear and drop a diesel heater in the dash but I like it if I can get more than one use out of my systems if I can.
 
I rebuilt my driver heater box and added an AC coil too so I have modern heat and refrigerated defrost as well as drive Dash AC.

Not sure why anyone would remove their driver heat unless they like to bundle up in cold weather

I use the AC coil quite regularly even in coil weather to dehumidify the air going to the windshield.. or if it’s a warm day just running the AC without heat so I can see and not roast
