Front door lock without arm opening system

Hi, I was trying to remove the bus opening system handle to gain some storage where that mechanism originally goes... And install Jimmy proof on my doors, and now I regret it . Did anyone had any luck with getting rid of that door mechanism and installing some lock on the door? Once I got rid of that arm mechanism my doors don't want to fully close or they keep opening... I'll send photos in a bit.
