Hey there Skoolie Tribe!
It's great to be here and finally getting a chance to write an introduction.
Our first jaunt into Skoolie life was actually brought upon us by a very sad event as our 1977 VW Westfalia of 20 years was totaled by a drunk driver who, of course, plead not guilty.. even though our bus was parked and he plowed into it and was nabbed by the cops on the spot.
That said.. after a few months of mourning we picked up the pieces and got to work on our next dream.. Starbird Annie.
She came to me after months of searching for the right thing and with a mix of the right timing, persistence, and synchronicity.. we were blessed to get the opportunity to care for this beauty.
The previous owner gets ALL the credit for this build. He was an architect/engineer by profession who built boat interiors as a hobby and decided to give it a go with an RV.. so it's basically a land yacht.. feels like you are on one for sure!
Going from a VW bus to a 9,600# Shuttle Bus is a big difference, but each have their pros and cons and both have the magic!
Our maiden voyage starts later this month and we are so very excited to spend the first year on little adventures and getting to know her better.
We plan to learn how to add solar and an on demand efficient hot water heater among other things along the way..
The long term plan is to head out for full time Skoolie living in about a year or two max.. it's definitely time to follow the dream!
For all those out there thinking of doing this.. you can!
Thank you to all who contribute to this forum and the help and encouragement it provides.. looking forward to seeing ya'll on the road!
:Thanx:
Always keep following your dream as long as you possibly can..
