Gas Bus vs Diesel Bus?

Gas is fine for short runs, tailgating parties & occasional use but if you are planning on getting out of town very far or very often...that's diesel territory. There are books full of reasons and many decades worth of hard earned logic that explain why virtually all over the road commercial vehicles use diesel engines...but they mostly come down to cost effectiveness as regards mpg's, durability and maintenance. No comparison between the two.

Your description of a "decent GMC 1997 bus for $1800" isn't quite enough to go by, much like you'd look at any used car.
This is my first diesel bus after a number of short gas buses and I by far prefer diesel. This bus, I mean van, is automatic rather than stick as in the other gas buses I've had. Besides, with a diesel people don't keep trying to steal your gas. A 40 gallon gas tank says "come and get it."

my last bus was a gasoline bus.. got terrible MPG bit it was fun building up that 454 for cheap... im sure my AT545 didnt appreciate it but i never blew up the trans... that bus was a little short bluebird and it took off pretty good after the engine build..
