My wife told me not to buy the genset I was thinking about...something is brewing, but I don't know what. :) But yes, the EU2000 (and the little 1000W version) is very quiet. Can it be mounted in an enclosure?

You could mount the 2000W Honda, and I'm sure you could mount the 1000W somehow too. You would need air flow in your enclosure. There are little rubber feet on each generator that are held on by screws going up into the frame of the generator. You could simply get longer screws and put them up through some sort of mount, through the rubber feet and into the generator. You could put a 2x2 hitch on the back of your bus and buy one of those cheap platforms at Wal-Mart. Build an enclosure onto that and mount the gens inside! :D

Aah, I see. I run my EU2000's in parallel all the time. Using the Eco-throttle is no problem. You don't have to run them full blast the entire time.

i went back and re-read the owners manual, and you are correct, the geni's do not have to run wiht eco throttle off when in paralell mode.
The geni does need to run with eco throttle off for the 12 volt battery charging option, i guess that's where i got confused. My humblest appologies.

a little off topic: we just bought a geni from home depot. it's is about the same kw rating and as part of the advertising the box states that the generator is in fact quieter than a train whistle.....i was pretty amused by that!

Is 780 hours too much on a used generator?

depends on the engine. If it has a briggs L head it probably wouldn't last 780 hours. Not sure what the briggs ohv engines are rated for, but i would immagine that's a lot of hours for one of those motors too.

if it's an onan, or one of those single cylinder cast iron kohlers it might be ok. If not, the kohler might be a realatively inexpensive rebuild. I used to have an 1,800 rpm geni with the kohler cast iron motor. Since it only ran at half speed and the engine was double the hp needed to run the geni, i immagine that thing would run for a million years.

does the engine have an oil filter? If so, then chances are 780 hours isn't that much.

just my 2 cents

I have two of the Honda EU2000i generators and I run them in parallel for 4000 watts. That's only if I'm running the A/C. One of them will run a 13,500 btu A/C, but not much else. But if it's winter and you don't need the A/C, you only have to run one generator. They're VERY quiet too. The only thing is, if it's raining, it's best to try and keep them dry. I've never had a problem, but I hear to not let them get too wet. They're VERY efficent too. I was at a camping store the other day and Honda now has a 6500 watt EU series generator. It's almost 300 pounds. But they cranked it up for me and it is just as quiet as one of my EU2000i's. There's really no need to have that much power unless you're running two A/C's at once. Plus, that generator was $3,400!! Ouch. I paid $879 each for my generators from Mayberry's in New Jersey. There was no tax and shipping was free. I have yet to find a better deal anywhere. Those loud generators suck. They'll make you go mad!

:D
I LOVE my Honda EU3000!
A connected pair of EU2000s is a good option -- more power and easier to move, for just a little more money -- but the 3000 has a larger fuel tank so it runs much longer between refillings. And has fuel gauge. And electric start.

Like the man said above: do not buy cheap noisy generator!

:D

Aah yes, that reminds me. I made external gas tanks for my EU2000i's. I used two 5 gallon plastic gas cans, and a few bucks worth of hardware. I hook them up and they'll run for three days without me having to mess with them. They were easy to make and hook up in seconds. 8)
